Burn Me Once Burn With Me (Ruby Grayson) novel Chapter 425

Garrison arched an eyebrow, feigning confusion as he tilted his head toward Ruby.

“And who exactly are you planning to challenge?”

Sylas, quick to jump on Garrison’s cue, let out a short laugh, as if worried he’d fall behind in the exchange.

The two of them volleyed their words back and forth, and as their voices faded, their gazes inevitably met in the charged air between them—an unspoken current crackling beneath the surface.

Hanley’s face darkened instantly, but he didn’t dare show any other emotion to these two. After all, Garrison was the acting CEO of Veytura, and Sylas was the nephew of Cassian, the wealthiest man in Quinborough. Hanley, once the head of the now-fallen Grayson family, knew better than to cross either of them.

And to make matters worse, Cassian himself was present.

Hanley stole a cautious glance in Cassian’s direction. Compared to the other men, Cassian seemed far more aloof, standing a measured distance behind Ruby. His gaze rarely drifted to anyone else, lingering instead on Ruby with a subtle intensity.

Hanley was no fool—as a man himself, he could read the emotions in Cassian’s eyes, which only added to his headache.

“Mr. Cloud is right,” Ruby said, her smile easy and disarming, though every move she made carried an undercurrent of undeniable strength. “I’ve long severed ties with the Graysons. Today, I’m here as the founder of a new legal aid firm in Quinborough—Apex Legal Partners.”

She produced a sleek business card from between her delicate, rose-tinted fingers and, with a flourish, handed it to Sylas, who held it up to the nearest camera for the journalists to capture.

“Apex Legal Partners is newly established,” she continued, her tone both earnest and light. “We sincerely hope our friends in the press will help spread the word. In a few months, we’ll be going public.”

She clapped her hands, inviting the attending reporters to take photos.

What was meant to be Violet’s funeral had, in an instant, become the launch event for Ruby’s new company.

Hanley clenched his jaw so tightly he thought his teeth might crack. His eyes blazed with resentment—if he could, he’d have torn Ruby apart on the spot.

She was determined to go up against him, no matter the cost.

“Mr. Grayson, you’re welcome to attend our IPO,” Ruby added sweetly, slipping a card into Hanley’s hand as well. Her eyes glinted with a deeper meaning, a slyness that made him shudder.

His heart skipped a beat. By the time he looked up, Ruby had already moved away, putting distance between them.

Most of the journalists, now completely captivated by Ruby, crowded around her with cameras flashing and questions flying.
