Chapter 208
“Mom, listen to me carefully,” Claire said, her expression turned very serious, which made Elena become a little bit worried.
“What happened? Something is wrong?” Elena asked. She looked around her, as if trying to scan her surroundings, looking for something out of ordinary.
“No, don’t cut me off, listen to me, okay?” Claire was in rush to explain thing to her mother, because she didn’t have time, she knew they were getting closer. “If I said run, you need to run as fast as you can, towards that direction. Someone will wait for you there. You will not be harmed.”
Claire pointed her finger at the direction to the village. She couldn’t run with her mother because she was pregnant, therefore, she would stay here with the protection from the royal warriors, as Keith would be here
soon.
She didn’t want her mother to be here during the battle, because she was sure, her mother would try to save Killian.
Elena loved Claire more than she did Killian, but he was still her son, and they had gone through a lot in the past few months.
“Do you understand me?” Claire emphasized her words. There was not much time left. She needed to be sure that her mother was safe.
“Wh–What is going on, Claire? What happened?” Elena asked fearfully, she looked around her again, but there is nothing wrong with her surroundings. And then she understood something that made her whole body was shaking.
“Do you… do you really work for the royal warrior? Are you part of the royal warrior, who wants to capture us? Do you help them?” Elena looked at her in disbelief, because she didn’t believe Alpha Winter’s suspicion, but now Claire had confirmed it herself. “No… No, you can’t do that, we have to inform them!”
“No, Mom! Stop!” Claire grabbed her mother arm. “This is your only chance to gain the pardon from the king.”
“The king will pardon me? What about your brother and the rest of those people? Will he pardon them too?”
Claire couldn’t answer that, but Elena was not stupid, she knew what the answer would be.
“I can’t, Claire. I have to let them know. Killian’s mate is pregnant, she is carrying my grandchild.” Elena shook her head, as if the idea of running away to save her life scared her.
“I am carrying your grandchild too!” Claire was desperate because Elena was trying to get away from her. “Mom, please…”
“No, I can’t. I can’t leave them.” Elena yanked her hand away from Claire. “You are here it means the king favors you and your mate. You must be the one, who begged for me to be pardoned, but why don’t you ask for your brother and his mate too? This is not even Killian’s battle to begin with.”
Yes, Killian was not responsible for the Movement against the king. He was only given the responsibility of
the failed plan, and carried the burden with him.
“I can’t, he actively moves against the king. He even kidnapped Rania!” Claire said frustratedly, but Elena had none of it. She kept shaking her head. “Mom, please. The king has agreed to pardon you.”
“I don’t want to go if they are not going with me too,” Elena said.
“Mom, you have changed.” Claire narrowed her eyes.
The mother that she knew would grab the first opportunity for the safety of herself, without thinking twice, or even cared for other people.
And in the midst of that confusion, her grip on her loosened, and Elena managed to be free of her daughter.
“You have gone so long, Claire. Years without any news. You don’t care how I feel. You don’t even say goodbye to me when you left. So, of course, I have changed.” Elena looked very sad. “I choose to stay with the child that stay with me too.”
The words that her mother said hurt Claire more than she imagined, she watched as Elena rushed back to the other people and informed what she just learned.
In the distance, Claire could hear the uproar from the warriors, as they were ready to leave, but… it was too late.
All of them raised their head at the same time as they sniffed the air, and their face blanched.
The royal warriors were already there. It was too late for them to do anything.

Rania overheard the conversation between Maximus and Eiten. The royal gamma just told him that Elena was dead during the battle, but Killian, royal beta Gerald and a few other warriors managed to escape, because they knew the royal warriors were coming.
“I am not sure what happened there, Keith only explained that they failed the surprised attack, but they managed to kill half of them, and now they were going after the rest of them.”
Eiten couldn’t say that he was pleased with the result, let alone Maximus. The king couldn’t care less about the other warrior, but he cared about the fact that Killian and Gerald managed to escape from his grasp again.
But, before Eiten could speak, Maximus raised his hand to stop him, and then looked at the door, as he talked to the person behind it.
“Come here, Rania, what are you doing standing there? If you want to hear this conversation, you can just
walk in.”
Eiten was not aware that Rania was there, until she opened the door and entered the room sheepishly because she was caught red handed eavesdropping the conversation.
“Oh, I don’t know you are here,” Eiten grinned. “Okay, I will not bother both of you, I will take my leave now.”
Rania was surprised, but before she could ask, the royal gamma had left. She then looked at Maximus questioningly.
“He has a lot of important thing to deal with,” Maximus replied, but he offered no further explanation, w made Rania frowned.
‘Did you
order someone to kill Elena?‘ Rania mouthed the question.
This was so bad.
