Chapter 209

Maximus had offered to kill Elena before, therefore Rania couldn’t help, but asked that when she overheard that Elena was killed during the battle.

“No, I didn’t.” Maximus looked at her in the eyes to prove his innocent. “Apparently, Claire’s claims over her mother, was overrated. Elena refused to leave with his daughter and decide to stay.”

Rania looked at her closely, trying to look for a lie.

“Rania, I will not lie to you, if I ordered someone to kill her, I will tell you so, I don’t need to hide it. It’s not like I will change your perception of me,” Maximus said lightly, he caressed his mate’s cheek.

‘I am sorry,‘ Rania mouthed. She felt bad because she had accused him.

Maximus looked at her sternly. “Do you think I can easily forgive you after the accusation?” He pressed his lips together, as he stared at the beautiful woman before him.

Rania looked surprised, because Maximus was not usually stern like this. He had grown soft with her, therefore, she forgot a little bit about how cruel he could be.

Didn’t know what to do, she tiptoed and kissed his cheek.

Maximus raised his brows when he was kissed by his mate. He didn’t expect this. “Do you think a kiss will be able to soften me? I was being accused for no reason.”

This time Maximus crossed his arms, he wanted to see what Rania would do now.

Rania thought about it for a while, and then she tiptoed and kissed him again. If a kiss couldn’t help, then two kisses would do, right? She smiled sweetly at him and hugged him.

‘Don’t be mad.’

Rania stared at him with her doe eyes, which made Maximus sighed in disbelief that he was going to give in, simply because of two kisses from her.

“Too bad for you, that’s my moniker.” Maximus then kissed her on the lips. “This is how you will appease me next time.” He forced her mouth to open by pinching her bump, and then plunged his tongue to taste the sweetness of her mouth. “Damn, I can’t get enough of you.”

Rania felt dizzy, the kiss started innocent enough, but soon fire ignited both of them, and she had no other choice, but to give in.

This man was insatiable, and she was more than willing to give herself to him.

Now when Rania thought about it again, how different it was since she came here for the first time. She had changed a lot, so did Maximus.

But, suddenly the alarm was blaring inside the palace, and Maximus immediately straightened his back, his eyes were not focus, indicating he was mindlink someone.

The blaring alarm was an indication that there was an intruder.

“Stay here, don’t go anywhere,” Maximus said sternly, he then called Ares and Lucian to stay with Rania. “Don’t leave. Stay.”

Rania nodded, and Maximus immediately dashed out of the room when he sensed Lucian and Ares were right outside of the door.

Rania looked for Maximus in his bedroom, because there was something she wanted to talk about, but she ended up couldn’t tell him anything.

However, that didn’t matter anymore. She opened the door and found Lucian and Ares were there.

“I am sorry, my queen. No matter what you said, I can’t let you out of the room,” Ares said before Rania could say anything, which annoyed her.

She then wrote something quickly.

[What happened? Why the alarm is blaring? Are we under attack again?]

“I am not sure what happened, the situation is a little bit chaotic at the east gates, but we are too far to get the information from there.”

Not like the king, their mindlink was not that strong to reach such far distance. Therefore, they were clueless. Aside from the fact that there was an intruder, they didn’t know any other information.

“Please, get back inside, my queen,” Ares said a little bit in distress because he was afraid Rania would have a weird idea to go out and do something.

However, Rania was not that clueless. This was not the situation that she could handle, moreover, Maximus had told her sternly not to go anywhere.

Therefore, she stayed and waited until the situation was calm down. The alarm had stopped blaring, but it didn’t mean the crisis had passed.

Rania then sat down on the edge of the bed, she stared at the ceiling, as her mind brought back to the day she met her father.

She didn’t want to think about it anymore, because it would only upset her, but she couldn’t help it.

Closing her eyes, she tried to calm her beating heart. The quietness of this room helped a lot. And only now she noticed that Maximus and her room was at the far away from the common area. Therefore, it was very peaceful here.

Rania’s mind wandered to a lot of things, but most recently, she had been thinking about the white wolf that appeared very often in her dream, she wondered what was that.

Was that only a dream? But, it came to her frequently, and even more in the last few weeks.

Suddenly, when Rania was deep in her thought, she felt something moved near here. Out of instinct, she opened her eyes and before she could figure out what was that, a man shifted into his beast.

The wolf was as black as the night. If Rania didn’t see it, she would have thought the wolf was Maximus, since this one was as big as her mate.

Her mouth opened but she couldn’t produce any sound to alert Lucian and Ares.

If only Rania was not too panic with the intruder, who were inside the king’s bedroom, she would have realized that this shifter had no scent at all.

That was why, he could slip in without anyone being able to detect him.
