Once Rania stepped inside the dining room, the conversation died down. The king was not alone, he was with a young man in silver, blonde hair with electric blue eyes, just like the king, but his was on the softer color.

He raised his brows upon seeing Rania entered the room, which made her stomach churn. She didn’t like to be scrutinized, and this young man was observing her closely.

She fidgeted with her fingers, as she stood at the furthest end of the long dining table, and the silence was rather suffocating.

The dining room, just like the other room, emanated a sense where you were being thrown back hundred or thousands years ago, everything here was majestic, as if you were in renaissance era, or the time when the supreme kingdom of werewolf was still standing.

The supreme kingdom was the era, where the werewolf was under one rule. The supreme rule of the king, but three hundred years ago, the supreme kingdom had collapsed, and now there were seven kingdoms in total in this continent.

And this place, was the main place of the supreme kingdom. Rania believed, there was nothing much had been changed ever for generations.

“You can leave,” Maximus said to the young man in blonde hair. He didn’t even introduce him.

The young man seemed wanting to say something, but then he clamped his mouth, and grinned. “Okay, I will take my leave now.”

And with that, he walked away, but not before he stared at Rania bluntly when he walked past her, and then disappeared behind the double doors.

“Come here.” Maximus pointed at the chair next to him with his chin. His eyes fixed on Rania, which only made her steps harder.

Her first instinct was to run, but her mind was clear enough to think it was impossible. She would only incur his wrath, and that was the last thing she needed.

More so, despite her protest, her body moved on its own. She reacted to the order that was given to her, since that was what she had been doing the whole year!

Rania sat down on the two chair closer to the king, but Maximus growled. “I said sit here.” He kicked the chair next to him slightly, indicating where Rania should sit.

Trembling, Rania sat down on the chair next to him. She kept her eyes low, she stared at her plate, and her arms felt so heavy, as if she was carrying a ton of bricks.

“What are you waiting for?! Eat!” Maximus was annoyed because of the way she acted around him. She didn’t even try to cover the fact that she was terrified in his presence, even when he didn’t do anything.

She would freeze whenever he tried to touch her too, and not even once, she took the initiative to look at him, as if she was disgusted by

him.

Silently, Rania ate her food. She didn’t even care what she put into her mouth, because everything was bland in her tongue. All she wanted to do was ending this meal, so she could go back to her bedroom, and be alone again.

Because she was being absentminded, Rania didn’t pay attention to what she ate, until Maximus grabbed her hand, and stopped her.

“Do you eat that?”

“Hm?

Il Rania paid close attention, the food was not like something that you would eat at home, It almost like a festivity instead. A feast that as too much to be eaten by the two of them.

Rania was visibly trembling, she had a short breath, and her mind freeze, but she followed the order. Her body couldn’t help it. Caden had trained her well to follow every order.

“Why I can’t read your mind?” Maximus asked viciously.

Usually, once you marked your mate, you would be able to communicate with them through the mindlink, but Maximus had tried with her with no avail.

It was not like Rania shut her mind, Maximus would know if she did that to keep him away, but it felt like there was no connection between them. There was no mindlink between them, she simply was not there.

“Because…” Rania gulped down with difficulty. It was hard for her to speak, and kept her voice steady when she was trembling so bad, and her mind was clouded with fear. Not even the mate bond between them could overcome this terrible feeling. “Because I lost my wolf spirit…” She finally said in a whisper.

“You lost your wolf spirit?” Maximus let go of her chin, and he watched there was a small scratch on her skin. “How?”

Rania was visibly relax a bit when Maximus let her go, so she spoke a little bit clearer this time. “Because of the rejection.”

Rania then told him the short version of what happened, as she tried to keep the trembling away from her voice.

Meanwhile, Maximus noticed the scratch didn’t heal.
