Crossing the Border (Rania) novel Chapter 230

Chapter 230

“Oh no!” Karin’s voice cracked with panic as she caught sight of what had happened to Rania. Without hesitation, she rushed forward and carefully helped her to sit down. “Breathe deeply, Rania. It’s going to be okay. You’ll be fine,” she urged gently, though her own heart pounded with fear.

Rania’s eyes widened in horror as she stared down at the deep crimson stain spreading across her dress. She sank to the ground, trying to follow Karin’s advice and take slow, steady breaths, but the dizziness swirling in her mind made it nearly impossible.

A storm of emotions crashed through her—sadness, fury, terror, and unbearable pain all tangled together inside her. She felt utterly powerless, overwhelmed by the devastating reality that she was about to lose her baby for the second time.

Yet, it wasn’t just her own fate she worried about. She had also dragged Karin and Cam into this nightmare. The thought of something happening to them because of her filled her with guilt so heavy she could barely bear it. She would never forgive herself if harm came to either of them.

“What’s going on? What happened to the queen?” Cam’s voice was thick with anxiety as he caught sight of the blood pouring from Rania’s lower body. “Is she hurt? Where exactly?”

Karin shook her head firmly. “We have to get her back to the pack immediately.” Her voice was sharp with urgency. She knew her healing powers alone wouldn’t be enough—Rania was in the middle of an active miscarriage, and time was running out.

Cam glanced nervously over his shoulder. He sensed something Karin couldn’t. “We don’t have time to wait for each other. If we stick together, we won’t make it.”

“No! I can’t carry her myself! We have to go now! We’re so close—I’m sure Alpha Letto has his warriors ready!” Karin’s tone was unwavering as she insisted they move as a group. She wanted Cam to carry Rania rather than leaving her behind to buy time.

“Cam! You staying here is pointless! They’ll kill you instantly—you’re outnumbered!” Karin’s voice was sharp, her mind racing. The enemy was more than one, and Cam stood no chance alone. “We need to leave right now. There’s no time to think!”

Without hesitation, Cam scooped Rania into his arms and sprinted away as fast as he could, dodging the enemies who had burst from the bushes in hot pursuit.

Carrying Rania prevented him from shifting into his beast form, so all he could do was run with everything he had, fleeing the danger closing in behind them.

Unexpectedly, wild wolves appeared on their side, intervening fiercely. They leapt from the shadows, howling and snarling as they battled the attackers pursuing Rania, Karin, and Ethan.

It was a breathtaking sight.

“They…” Karin’s voice faltered, struck speechless as more wild wolves emerged from the dark underbrush, their angry roars filling the night air while they fought off the enemy.

“Keep moving!” Cam urged urgently. The wolves were only a temporary distraction—they wouldn’t hold the attackers off for long.

Though the wild wolves outnumbered the enemy, these were shifters they faced, and no one took lightly a shifter in their beast form.

“Faster, Karin!” Cam called out, his pace quick despite the weight in his arms. He could run faster than her in human form, but carrying Rania slowed him down.
