Chapter 231
Rania slowly regained consciousness, blinking against the soft light filtering into the unfamiliar room. Sitting quietly in a chair beside her was Alpha Letto. The moment he noticed her stirring, he rose quickly, concern etched across his face. “My queen, are you alright?” he asked gently, his voice calm and soothing. Without waiting for an answer, he called out for the healer to come and examine her.
For a moment, Rania felt disoriented, her mind foggy and memories scattered like fragments of a broken mirror. She couldn’t quite recall how she had ended up here. The details were hazy, slipping just beyond her grasp. Her eyes scanned the room, but nothing looked familiar. Then, her gaze settled on Alpha Letto. She recognized him vaguely, though she couldn’t place when or where they had met before.
As her thoughts slowly began to clear, she tried to sit up abruptly, but the room spun violently around her. A wave of dizziness forced her back down onto the bed. “Don’t,” Alpha Letto urged, his brow furrowing with worry. “You need to rest… you…” His voice faltered, as if he struggled to find the right words.
But Rania understood perfectly what he was trying to say. There was no need for further explanation. The pain inside her was unmistakable—a raw, aching torment that seemed to tear her apart from within. It was as if invisible blows were being struck against her heart, leaving her bruised and battered, though her skin bore no marks. Physical wounds could heal, but this kind of suffering was silent and invisible.
She breathed heavily, her chest tightening with grief. Without speaking aloud, she mouthed a desperate request for Cam and Karin.
“They are both alive,” Alpha Letto assured her quickly. “They’re in critical condition, but they will survive. They need rest and care right now.”
Rania’s eyes pleaded to see them. She tried to push herself up again, but Alpha Letto gently pressed her back down. “No, you can’t move yet. You must stay here and heal first, my queen. I promise, they are being looked after.” His voice softened as he sighed deeply. “I’m sorry I wasn’t here sooner. I regret that I couldn’t prevent this from happening.”
Rania shook her head slowly. It wasn’t entirely Alpha Letto’s fault. They had been close to his pack when her miscarriage began, which had complicated everything further.
Alpha Letto then recounted the events that had unfolded. They had arrived just in time to find Cam nearly torn apart by enemies as he fought fiercely to protect them all. Despite his strength, facing four attackers simultaneously was impossible, especially while shielding Karin and Rania.
Meanwhile, Karin had fought bravely to keep Rania from being taken, but her injuries were severe. “She will recover,” Alpha Letto reassured her once more. “Our healer is watching over them both.”
