Calm down. Calm down. Calm down.
Rania chanted the words in her head, as if it was a spell that could protect her, but sadly it didn’t work. Her heart was doing summersault upon seeing the kin. She was scared, but there was part of her that was excited to see him again.
The mate bond bonded them together, and it was no joke when Rania said that she missed him, despite what he had done to her. It was crazy of how the pull between them was getting stronger, regardless of the pain it
caused.
“Why did you harm yourself?”
Maximus stalked toward her, but he stopped three steps away, because the fear he saw in her eyes, and this bothered him. He relished in his opponent’s fear, and it had been like that for a long time.
However, it was different with her. Her fear left a hollow in his stomach, and it almost like a physical pain for
him.
“I ask you again, why did you harm yourself?” Maximus’s voice was very low, but it laced with rage, and Rania could feel that deep in her bones.
It didn’t help to calm down.
Therefore, she lowered her head, and fiddled with the bandaged on her hand when she spoke, in a very small voice.
“I… I accidentally hit the mirror,” Rania said. This was the same answer that she gave Lula, which in hindsight, it was a stupid reply.
If even the healer knew that she was lying, let alone the king. Lula didn’t press her further, because she thought it was not her place to pursue the answer.
But, the king was different. He wouldn’t stand to a blatant lie, and he was going to get the answer that he wanted.
With long strides, he approached her. His eyes fixed on her bandaged hand. “Don’t you dare to lie.” His voice came out as a growl, that could make any warrior trembled, even more someone like Ranía.
“I… I…” Rania cursed herself because she couldn’t get the words out of her mouth. She wanted to say something, anything, because she knew her silence only annoyed the king, but she couldn’t.
The words stuck in her throat, and the angrier the king became, the more she couldn’t speak. She was visibly trembling.
On the other hand, Maximus also cursed himself. He knew this would be how Rania reacted, every time she sensed his rage, but he couldn’t help it.
His anger always got the best of him, and it didn’t help with the situation at all. Anger always got the best of
him.

Chapter 35
And in the midst of his frustration, he did something that he didn’t even think was possible for him to do, but his body moved without thinking, and he found himself was kneeling down in front of her.
A king didn’t kneel to anyone, but Maximus did it for her, even when he did it out of impulse.
Rania lowered her head, she was staring at her bandaged hand, and didn’t dare to look at him. Currently, she was sitting on a chair. It would overwhelm her when Maximus’s tall body, and strong presence towered above
her.
That was why, when instinct kicked in, Maximus lowered himself, and now he bent his knees in front of his
mate.
This action surprised not only Maximus himself, but also Rania. She lifted her head, and blinked her eyes in confusion, she couldn’t comprehend the sight of the king knelt before her, and for a moment, she only stared at him.
And that was exactly what Maximus wanted. He wanted her to see him. Therefore, he brushed of his annoyance with his impulsiveness.

Rania was hesitated for a while, but then she wrote again, this time she wrote something longer, and Mazimus crossed his arms, to prevent himself from snatching the paper from her hand, but he did so when Rania stopped writing, and gave the paper to him.
[I didn’t mean to hurt myself, but I hate my reflection on the mirror. I don’t know why I hit the mirror. I hate myself.]
Maximus scrunched his brows, he looked at Rania with his intense gaze, and then asked her again why did she hate herself, and she started writing the reply,
[Don’t you hate me too?]
“Of course! You were thinking about another man when I fucked you!”
Rania flinched when Maximus raised his voice again, and he had to close his eyes, and counted to ten, which was the method that Eiten taught him, which didn’t help at all in his case.
[I didn’t. I didn’t. I hate him.]
The new paper that Rania handed to the king made him raise his brows. “You hate him?” he scoffed. “Haven’t you kept offering yourself to him to be fucked?” he chuckled derisively.
Rania shook her head vigorously, tears streamed down her face.
“Well, that’s not what those people in your pack told me, they seemed to agree that you have been whoring yourself to the alpha.”
Maximus wanted to punch himself when he saw the pain in her eyes.
[You will never believe me whatever I say, won’t you?]
After handed the paper, Rania stormed out of the room.
