Divorced and Pregnant My New Life with a Billionaire Drives My Ex Crazy novel Chapter 169

After leaving the ICU, Jace waited outside the operating room. Wiona had been sitting on a bench in a quiet corner near the ICU, her baseball cap pulled low over her face. She only took out her earpiece when she was sure Jace was gone.

She had Conrad’s influence at the hospital to thank. All she did was ask Tim and Jim if there was any way she could listen in on what Jace and Alona might say to each other. Tim just smiled and said, “No need to sneak around, Ms. Morgan.” With the badge of Conrad’s authority, the hospital staff handed over the earpiece without hesitation. Otherwise, there’s no way she could have heard the conversation between Jace and his mother.

What she heard answered a few of her questions. She remembered spotting Alona at the café with the president of Salisbury Bank. Even though he’d turned Alona down, Wiona had still leaked their meeting photos to the paparazzi, hoping to stir up trouble. But nothing happened. The Salisbury family didn’t even blink, so she’d assumed she was just being paranoid.

Today, though, she finally got it. There was something at Salisbury Bank that belonged to Grandma Grace, something Jace and his mother desperately wanted. It had to be special, something worth all the trouble they were going through.

Still, she didn’t know why Daniel had stabbed Alona.

Wiona handed the earpiece back to Jim. “Please give this back to the nurse and thank her for me.” Then she got up and slipped quietly out of the hospital.

Lately, Wiona had asked Mason to help her find a new place to live. The house she’d once shared with Jace was long sold. Her apartment was no longer safe, so she’d had Mason put it on the market too. She wasn’t interested in keeping the two properties Grandma Grace had given her either. She packed up the deeds and the bracelet, planning to return everything to the Salisbury family once Grandma Grace was out of the hospital.

There was a time when she wanted to fight for what she deserved. Now she knew Grandma Grace had been the one pulling strings behind her back. That realization left her feeling nothing but disgust. She didn’t want anything from them anymore. She just wanted to get away from the Salisbury family as soon as she could.

Luckily, Mason was always quick. By the time Wiona called to check in, he’d already arranged everything.

“Boss, your new place is close to the café. You can walk home in five minutes,” he told her. “Security is solid. I checked it out myself. It’s just as safe as any fancy neighborhood. The environment and amenities are top-notch for Stonehill. Plus, it’s in a lively part of town, so there’s a real neighborhood vibe.”

Wiona had never lived anywhere like that before. She went to check it out right away.
