Divorced and Pregnant My New Life with a Billionaire Drives My Ex Crazy novel Chapter 172

Wiona could still remember that look Bronwen gave her, clear as day. Pure disgust. No mistaking it.

She was only seventeen back then. The way Bronwen’s eyes bore into her, Wiona just froze up, couldn’t move, couldn’t even breathe. Her heart, still so young and hopeful, shattered on the spot. After that, she carried the pain with her everywhere.

So Wiona just shook her head.

“She doesn’t want to see me,” she said quietly.

Without waiting for a reply, she turned around, climbed into her car, and drove off.

Nicholas just let out a heavy sigh. “Honestly, those two… why do they have to make everything so hard?”

Later, after Bronwen left the police station, Nicholas told her he’d run into Wiona.

“You came back to stand up for her. That means you still care. And when you got into trouble, she did everything she could to help you. She still cares too. I just don’t get it… Why did you leave without a word all those years ago? Are you really going to spend your whole life avoiding her? What did Wiona do that made you cut her off like that? You know, after you left, all your other students started treating her like she was the reason you were gone. They blamed her for everything. She got through it all by herself, but you’ve seen her paintings. There’s still a hole in her heart. Then she fell out with Cassian over her marriage, and the Morgan family turned their backs on her too. Bronwen, she’s had it rough. You don’t have to be so hard on her.”

As Nicholas spoke, Bronwen’s eyes turned red.

“Enough,” she said thickly. “Whatever happened back then, just blame me. I let her down.”

And with that, she wouldn’t say another word. She just walked away, her steps quick and determined.

Wiona had to skip her lunch with Tina because of everything that happened. Thankfully, Tina didn’t get mad. She just told her not to overwork herself, promising to go over the divorce papers in detail before handing them to her.

By the time the sun started to set, Wiona made it back to Hawthorne Hall.

As soon as Alice heard Wiona was back, her whole mood changed. She’d been sulking upstairs, flinging paint everywhere, but now she dropped her brushes and bolted downstairs.

“Wiona!”

Alice almost tackled her in a giant hug, but Libby darted out just in time and caught Alice by the shoulders.

“Miss Alice, you need to be gentle,” Libby said, smiling. “Or Ms. Morgan might get scared away.”

That did the trick. Alice, looking like a little rainbow with paint all over her, shuffled her feet and pouted.

“Wiona, why didn’t you come back for three days? Conrad kept saying you’d be home soon. Was I being bad? Is that why you didn’t want to paint with me?”
