Divorced and Pregnant My New Life with a Billionaire Drives My Ex Crazy novel Chapter 33

“We’ve been waiting on you hand and foot for over half an hour, bringing out all our best jewelry for you to try. You’re not just messing with us, are you? We’re just regular people trying to make a living. We don’t have the time to waste.”

Wiona looked up at the sales clerk, who was glaring at her like she’d ruined her day, and replied in a calm, almost bored voice, “Did I say I wasn’t going to buy anything?”

She got it. Life wasn’t easy when you were working retail. But that didn’t give anyone the right to judge her just because she was dressed simply. Jace had left and she looked like she didn’t have money to spend, so she was suddenly beneath their attention. The way they looked at her made it crystal clear.

Truth was, she hadn’t brought the credit card Jace had given her. The money she had in her own account wouldn’t cover everything she’d picked out, and even if it did, she wasn’t about to spend a fortune just to prove a point.

The hesitation on her face seemed to confirm the clerk’s suspicions. The woman sneered, “Pretty face, but no character. Your sugar daddy’s gone. Just drop your act”

Wiona laughed, the sound edged with anger. Sugar daddy. That’s what they saw when they looked at her.

“Alright, get your manager out here,” she said. “I’d love to know if treating customers like garbage is how you do business. If that’s the case, you’re right, I won’t buy a thing. Unless you have some rule where looking means you have to buy?”

The other salesgirls caught on that Wiona wasn’t someone to push around and went quiet. Only the one who kept running her mouth still looked defiant. “Fine, I’ll call the manager! You think I’m scared? Just because you’re a customer doesn’t mean you’re better than us. Stop pretending you’re rich if you can’t pay. No wonder you get left behind.”

The words stung deeper than Wiona wanted to admit. Her hands curled into fists at her sides. Her mentor, the Morgans, her brother, Jace… she really was always the one left behind. It was true, but she hated hearing it out loud.

Without another word, Wiona turned and walked out.

She came back a minute later, carrying a fire axe she’d grabbed from the emergency case in the hallway. She didn’t hesitate. She swung the axe straight at the glass display case. Gold, silver, and sparkling gems flew everywhere, crashing down with the shards of glass.

The manager rushed in, gasping for breath. When he saw the destruction, he grabbed his head and let out a scream. “Who did this?”

Wiona dropped the axe on the floor and calmly wiped her hands with a handkerchief.
