Divorced and Pregnant My New Life with a Billionaire Drives My Ex Crazy novel Chapter 56

“Jace, if you can’t handle this, don’t bother coming into the office for the next few days.”

Jace could see his father wasn’t kidding. The way Daniel was losing his temper over something that felt so small left Jace a little stunned.

“Dad, it’s not what you think. The truth is, Kellen is the one who—” Jace almost let the truth slip. He wanted to tell his father that Kellen was actually the biological mother of the babies Wiona was carrying. But the babies hadn’t even been born yet. If he said it now, his dad would just think he was making up some wild story. And even with twins, there was no guarantee they’d both make it into the world safely.

Plus, if Wiona found out the truth before she was supposed to… things would get ugly. Really ugly.

Staring at the floor, Jace forced himself to swallow the rest of his words. “Dad, this is my fault.”

“I’ll make it up to Wiona.”

“But Kellen… she can’t leave yet. There’s no one at her place to look after her, and she needs time to recover.”

“Dad, she got hurt saving me. If I kick her out now just because Wiona is upset, wouldn’t that make me heartless?”

“As for me and Kellen… she’s always been the one I love. That’s never changed.” Jace glanced up, his voice flat. “If you and Mom hadn’t split us up back then, Kellen would be the Salisbury family’s daughter-in-law right now.”

Daniel stared at his son, his hand shaking as he pointed. His face had gone pale with anger. “You… You’re just being stupid.”

Daniel finally stormed out of the study, looking like he might explode.

He called over the butler. “George! Get the biggest guest room on the first floor ready. Kellen will be staying there.”

Jace followed him out, fists clenched, face drained of color. You could see the battle going on inside him. The distance between father and son had never felt so wide.

Kellen stood frozen at the top of the stairs, eyes red, looking like she wanted to disappear.

“I’m so sorry. This is all my fault. I’m sorry, everyone, especially Mrs. Salisbury. I shouldn’t have come. I really shouldn’t have.”

Seeing her like that, Jace’s entire demeanor changed. He bolted up the stairs, voice tight with panic. “Kellen, don’t move.”
