Two young maids forced Molly to her knees, their grip unrelenting. Kellen just stood there with her arms crossed, watching it all unfold.
Bianca grabbed Molly by the hair and yanked her head back, then slapped her across the face, hard. The sound echoed in the room.
“You know this is all your fault, right?” Bianca spat. “Thanks to you, I was completely humiliated at school today.”
She glared at Molly, her voice full of bitterness. “I didn’t even realize you’d snuck into the same college as me. And not just any department — you had to go for finance, the most prestigious program at Stonehill College. Meanwhile, I’m stuck in some boring media major.”
Bianca’s voice trembled with rage. “You’re just a maid, someone who grew up in my house, and yet you’re doing better than me. How am I supposed to hold my head up? And don’t even get me started on the guy I like. He’s been ignoring me, but I catch him trailing after you at every turn. If it wasn’t for that, I never would’ve realized how manipulative you really are.”
She leaned in, sneering. “What, you want everyone in Stonehill’s upper circle to laugh at me?”
Molly’s lip split, blood trickling down her chin, and the shape of Bianca’s hand stood out red and angry on her cheek. She’d been on the receiving end of Bianca’s cruelty all her life. But today, something inside her snapped.
She struggled, trying to get up. Her voice was shaky but defiant. “Bianca, I’m done keeping quiet. I’ll tell Mrs. Salisbury, I’ll tell Mr. Salisbury everything you’ve done. Everyone will see the kind of person you really are.”
“I’m not your servant. I’m just a housemaid. You have no right to treat me like this.”
Bianca looked like she was about to explode. “What did you say?”
“You’ve lived under our roof, eaten our food, and now you think you can talk back to me?”
If Kellen hadn’t stepped in, pretending to hold her back, Bianca might have attacked Molly again.
Kellen spoke up, her voice sweet and calm. “Bianca, why bother getting angry over someone so beneath you?”
“She’s just a maid, after all. To put it bluntly, she owes everything to the Salisbury family.”
“And after all these years, she thinks she can just walk away without paying it back? Even her own father doesn’t care about her. If you want to teach her a lesson, it wouldn’t be hard.”
Bianca was fuming, too angry to think straight. “Then what do you suggest?”
Kellen smiled, her tone almost casual. “First, give her a real beating. Make sure she can’t get out of bed for a couple of weeks. Maybe then she’ll learn some respect.”
Bianca shook her head. “No, that’s not enough. I can’t even show my face at school anymore, and it’s all because of her. Just beating her up won’t fix this.”
