One was a spacious two-thousand-square-foot apartment, the kind that stretched out with room to breathe. The other was a cozy twelve-hundred-square-foot three-bedroom place.
“Grandma Grace said you can pick whichever one you want. Just make sure you’re comfortable,” Molly said, her voice warm. “And this is from your father-in-law. He wants you to spend it however you like, no need to hold back.”
She pressed a black card into Wiona’s hand.
Wiona stared at it, almost in shock. “You mean Daniel? He gave me a supplementary card?”
The limit on a card like this had to be sky-high, probably in the millions. It felt unreal, knowing how Daniel had always been so distant. He barely looked at her, especially after finding out she was the Morgan family’s fake heiress. He never even bothered to talk to her.
Now he was handing her a card like this.
He’d already surprised her by backing her design so strongly last time. Giving her this card now was just another twist she hadn’t expected. It only made her more certain—the Salisburys really cared about the twins she was carrying.
Wiona quickly pulled out her phone and texted Mason: [Can you look into Daniel, the chairman of Salisbury Corporation?]
Mason replied almost instantly. [No problem.]
He’d always managed her cafe so well, and over time, he’d built up quite a network of powerful connections. Finding information had become second nature for him. That’s how he’d tracked down Kellen’s family so easily.
Wiona hesitated, then sent another message: [Any updates about Kellen? The real reason she went abroad?]
Mason: [Got some leads. Actually, I found a few surprises too. The info’s not complete yet, so I haven’t sent anything over, but here’s a heads-up—Kellen’s story is wild.]
Wiona arched her brow. [I’m intrigued.]
She slipped her phone away and nudged Molly. “Let’s look at this stuff later. Right now, the two babies and I are starving. Are you going to feed us or what?”
Molly looked genuinely distressed. “Of course! I’ll get started right away!”
It didn’t take long before Molly had whipped up three dishes and a soup. The food looked and smelled amazing. Wiona could hardly stop herself from tearing up as she sat down.
“I’m just so hungry,” she said, laughing through watery eyes. “Hope you don’t mind if I dig in.”
She grabbed her fork and took a bite. It was actually really good—way better than she expected.
