Divorced and Pregnant My New Life with a Billionaire Drives My Ex Crazy novel Chapter 86

The wind and rain lashed through the open window, soaking the floor. Wiona stood right at the edge, teetering as if she might drop from the third floor at any second.

Jace’s heart skipped. His jaw clenched as he crossed the room in a few long strides. He grabbed her, pulling her into his arms, holding her so tightly it almost hurt. With his free hand, he slammed the window shut and twisted the lock.

“Are you out of your mind?” His voice was rough and loud. “Do you even realize how dangerous that was? Don’t you care about our babies at all?”

Wiona’s eyes were cold, unblinking. “Our babies?” she repeated.

She almost laughed, but the feeling twisted into something bitter and sickening. The man in front of her… How could he say those words like he actually meant them? He’d used her, turned her into a surrogate for someone else. The pain, the risk, the months of carrying a child—she was nothing but a placeholder for his precious true love.

He was her husband, the one she’d trusted, the one she’d wanted to build a life with. She’d agreed to IVF, she’d thought maybe they could fall in love over time. But he had never really planned on spending forever with her. He’d manipulated her, wrung her out completely, left her with nothing.

And now he had the nerve to call it their babies?

Her hair was wild, her clothes hung off her like they didn’t belong to her anymore. Her face, always beautiful, looked pale and exhausted. Her eyes were rimmed red, but she was still heartbreakingly lovely—in a way that made Jace’s chest ache.

“I…” He hesitated. “Wiona, why would you say that? Did I scare you?”

He pulled her closer, tighter than he ever had before, but it still didn’t feel like enough. She used to want every little bit of affection he offered. She used to hug him back, eager, hopeful. Now, her arms just hung at her sides. She didn’t even move.

Panic crept up inside him, sharp and cold.

“Let me go.” Wiona’s voice was flat. “And don’t pretend this is about your feelings for me. Don’t even try.”
