Chapter 19
Dakota slipped away unnoticed and made her way to Katie’s car, where she quickly tampered
with the tires.
She needed to strike back.
After the launch, Katie drove down the road, unaware of the sabotage.
As she turned onto a secluded stretch of road, her car suddenly slowed to a stop.
She groaned in frustration as she got out to investigate.
Her tire had flattened.
Just as she was about to call Lucian for help, a group of shadowy figures emerged from the larkness.
Ryker, the ruthless rogue alpha of the Shadow Pack, sneered at her. “Looks like you’re in a bit of I bind, CEO,” he taunted.
She instantly knew Dakota was behind this.
She had seen Ryker around her before.
hey were definitely acquainted.
Before Katie could react, Ryker’s pack closed in. Katie prepared to defend herself, but she was astly outnumbered.
s the attack began, Katie fought back with all her might, but Ryker’s pack was well–trained and elentless.
ust when it seemed like all hope was lost, Lucian and his pack arrived, sensing Katie’s distress. hey launched a fierce counterattack, fighting off Ryker’s pack and rescuing Katie.
Katie rubbed her temples when they reached home, her eyes closing in frustration. “I’m having a eadache. Dealing with Dakota is exhausting. She’s such an evil villain.”
ucian looked pissed.
We have to do something about that witch. She is getting out of hand!
Tell me about it. Don’t worry, she would get what’s coming.”
Lucian gently took Katie’s hands, his fingers tracing the lines of tension on her face. “You look ired,” he observed. “How about I give you a head massage?”
Oh wow, the alpha in all his glory would give me a massage?” she teased.
‘Remember, I’m your husband. A massage is nothing. I could give you a warm bath in milk if you desired it, and massage your feet as well.”
Katie blushed as he winked at her.
At work the next day, the vote was unanimous. Dakota was to be fired, effective immediately. Dakota’s face turned red with rage as she realized her schemes had been exposed. “No, you can’t do this to me!” she screamed, her voice echoing off the walls. “I was the one who helped this company grow and succeed!”
Katie was as calm as ever.
“You’ve proven yourself to be a threat to this company, and we can’t afford to have you on our team anymore. It’s time for us to move forward, not backward.”
She thrashed about, her arms flailing wildly as she was dragged out of the company by security. “It’s not over!” she screamed, her voice fading into the distance. “I’ll be back, and I’ll make sure you pay for this, Katie!”
Katie’s mind was already focused on the next challenge.
She had a meeting with the excavation team to oversee the digging on her parents‘ land, where diamonds had been detected.
The stakes were high, and Katie knew that if those diamonds fell into the wrong hands- specifically, her uncle and aunt’s – it would spell trouble for her family.
She stood outside, watching as the machines dug deep into the earth.
Just as she was about to give the team instructions, Liam appeared.
‘Looks like you’re busy,” he said, his voice low and smooth. “Mind if I join you?”
He was dressed in a black hoodie, sunglasses, and a face mask, making him almost unrecognizable.
She stepped back. “Liam, what in earth are you doing here?”
I’m sorry. I couldn’t stay away from you anymore.”
Weren’t you arrested already?”
