Liam’s eyes dropped, his expression sheepish.

“Oh, I may have mixed it up,”

“Why don’t you focus on making your life better instead of trying to make a fool of yourself?” Katie suggested, her tone biting.

Liam shuffled his feet. “You know, I found out you lost your pregnancy that day because of me. feel so stupid.”

Katie grimaced at the memory.

“So why did you have to bring up that sad news? You chose your mistress again. And killed our second child. End of story.”

“If I could turn back the hands of time, I would.”

“Well you can’t.”

He heaved a deep sigh. Then reached into his pocket and pulled out a pearl necklace.

Katie recognized it. Her mother’s necklace. The one thing left of her mother that she had.

‘You forgot this in the house before you packed,”

Oh, you actually got this one right,” she said sarcastically.

Liam’s eyes pleaded with hers. “May I wear it on you?”

She rolled her eyes. “Just give me back the necklace.”

He hesistated. Then retreated.

“It’s not over, you know. I’m gonna be back, and Lucian should better watch out.”

Katie’s hand touched Lucian’s arm, her touch calming him down.

“It’s okay,” she said, her voice soft. “Let’s just go home.”

“Are you okay?”

“Yeah. Liam just came out of nowhere, and I was surprised to see him too. But at least I got my

mother’s necklace back, and that’s what matters.”

“We probably have to keep an eye on Liam so he doesn’t come close to you anymore,” he said, his voice low and protective.

Katie nodded, her expression serious.

But then Lucian’s face brightened, and he said, “You know what? How about we go to the cinema? You’ve been under so much stress lately, and you haven’t really had time to unwind.” Her heart warmed at that thought.

She grinned. “That doesn’t seem like a bad idea”

“Your favorite movie is actually coming out today, and we can go see it together.”

She and Liam never got to do fun stuff like this. Not ever.

He always claimed to be so busy with pack matters. And he didn’t have the time.

She scoffed at her previous foolishness.

Her face lit up. “Okay, no problem. That sounds like a plan,”

As they arrived at the cinema, Katie’s eyes grew wide. “You booked out the entire cinema just for ne?”

He gave a shrug.

You don’t have to show off your power and wealth every single time,” Katie said, her voice easing.

He raised a brow. “If I don’t flaunt it for you, who else would I flaunt it for?”

She bit her lip to hide her smile.

She felt happy. Content.

She snuggled into her seat, feeling Lucian’s arm wrap around her. As the movie started, she orgot all about her troubles and simply enjoyed the moment. With her mate.

She caught a glimpse of Lucian’s playful side.

He was being silly, throwing popcorn at her face and giggling like a child.

She retaliated, tossing a handful of popcorn back at him.
