Dumped for My Stepsister Married Into the Mafia novel Chapter 4

William slowly approached us, restrained power rolling off his imposing frame. No one dared to lift their heads to look at him.

His gaze roved over me just as I heard Felicia's wicked chuckle. She whispered, "You're dead meat, Camille. Don Moretti won't let you get away with this."

But all I saw in William's eyes was worry and anger. It wasn't until he'd reached Shanna and me that he stopped. When he saw Shanna's red cheeks, the air around him grew terrifyingly cold and still.

"What the hell happened here?" he demanded, his voice devoid of warmth.

Before I could answer him, Felicia suddenly straightened up and pointed at me. "This woman started it! She had the gall to say this little mongrel was your kid, Don Moretti!"

"Mongrel?" William repeated, his brow quirking as his hand grazed the top of his staff—a sign that he was about to fly into a rage.

He'd always adored me and Shanna.

We could call him and tell him we missed him on a whim, and he'd take his private jet back to Rostera Island to see us. When I told him tulips were my favorite, he turned the entire Rostera Island into a veritable sea of tulips.

If Shanna had a hard time falling asleep at night, he'd stay up just to tuck her in and coax her into slumber.

William told us we were the most precious treasure he could ever own, and that he wouldn't stand to see us suffer or get upset. But today, Shanna and I were humiliated and picked on at a Moretti family banquet.

A murderous look filled William's eyes, nearly spilling over the edge.

I slowly walked up to him to soothe his rising temper. "William…"

His name had only just left my mouth when Felicia tugged on me forcefully. "You bitch! How dare you address Don Moretti by his first name? Everyone gather round so we can throw this bitch out the door before she annoys Don Moretti even more!"

As Felicia rallied the crowd, she didn't realize William was looking at her as if she were already dead. She kept shouting, but no one dared to step forward.
