Shanna burst into tears at that moment. She raised her wounded arm and pointed at Justin. "He was the one who picked on me and Mommy earlier!"

An inscrutable look flickered across Justin's face, yet he kept his daughter in a bowing stance as he apologized to me and Shanna. "I'm dreadfully sorry, Don Moretti. My wife and daughter didn't know better and got on Mrs. Moretti's bad side."

Francine had shed her menacing front and tearfully apologized to us.

It was clear Justin had sent the message. I stared at it, feeling not rage, but amusement.

He'd dragged my reputation through the mud and ruined me five years ago for Felicia. Now that I had moved on to greener pastures, he was begging me to go back to him and become his lover.
