Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 513

Emmy almost burst out laughing, half in disbelief, half from sheer frustration.

Still, she kept her face carefully controlled, letting only confusion and heartache show. Her voice shook as she spoke.

“But Mr. Sparrow, you know as well as I do—Claudia and Cooper were behind my grandfather’s death. They nearly killed my mother. They almost wiped out the Drennon family.”

Ben’s expression changed in a flash. He jumped to Claudia’s defense without missing a beat.

“That was all investigated, wasn’t it? None of that had anything to do with Claudia!”

“Emmy, you’re a smart girl. I hope you won’t throw accusations at Claudia just because you’re upset.”

The mask dropped. Emmy’s eyes turned cold and sharp.

“I’m sorry, Mr. Sparrow,” she said, her tone flat.

“But I won’t be signing this agreement.”

Ben narrowed his eyes, like he was seeing her for the first time—the softness gone, only edges left.

He suddenly switched tactics.

“Emmy, do you even know who your husband is?”

A chill ran through her. She frowned, caught off guard.

Ben’s lips curled up just a little.

“I’m guessing he hasn’t told you everything. There are things he just can’t say to you, because you’re his wife.”

“How about we make a deal?” He nudged the agreement closer. “Sign this, and I’ll tell you who that man really is.”

Emmy’s brows knit together.

Was there something about James she didn’t know?

She had to admit, the offer was tempting. For a second, her fingers hovered over the pen on the table. She picked it up.

Ben let out a breath, clearly thinking he’d won.

But Emmy just spun the pen in her fingers, then looked up and smiled—not kindly.

“Mr. Sparrow, if I really wanted to know my husband’s secrets, I could just hire the best investigator in town. It’d only cost me a little money.”

“You really think that’s enough to let Evelina walk free?”

“If she does what I say, I’ll sign. She can avoid prison. That’s the deal.”

Inside, Emmy let herself feel a flash of satisfaction.

This—this was why she’d come. Evelina had stolen so much from her, and Emmy had never been able to prove it. But if Evelina admitted it herself, in front of everyone, Emmy could finally reclaim what was hers.

Whether Evelina actually went to jail? Emmy truly didn’t care.

Honestly, she hoped Evelina wouldn’t get off that easy.

Let her wear the “thief” label for life, shunned by the industry, hated everywhere she turned. That would be real payback.

Ben stared at Emmy, and in her cool, steady gaze, he saw something unshakeable. There was no room for bargaining.

He let out a slow breath and leaned back in his chair.

“All right.”

“Tomorrow, I’ll have her hold the press conference and do what you ask.”

He gestured at the agreement. “And this…”
