She set her phone aside, letting the music guide her as she stretched. She had barely started when someone knocked on the yoga room door.
“Ma’am, Ms. Summer is here.”
Emmy’s brows knitted together. Isabel? What was she doing here?
She stopped and told her instructor, “That’s it for today.” Then she called out, “Let her in, Ivy.”
Ivy answered, heading straight to the entryway. She grabbed a fresh pair of guest slippers from the shoe cabinet and set them out by the door, then greeted Isabel and showed her inside.
Isabel switched her shoes and made herself comfortable on the living room sofa. It wasn’t long before Emmy came out, now dressed in loose, cozy loungewear. The top of her outfit was long enough to completely hide the gentle curve of her belly.
Still, Isabel’s eyes went straight to Emmy’s stomach before she looked up and smiled, her face radiating warmth and friendliness.
“Emmy, what are you up to at home today?”
Ivy came over with tea, placing a cup in front of Isabel and a glass of warm water in front of Emmy. Emmy tipped her chin toward the tea, inviting Isabel to enjoy it.
“Nothing much. Just some yoga.”
Isabel immediately looked apologetic. “I hope I didn’t interrupt.”
“Not at all. I was just finishing.”
Emmy decided to bring up their last conversation, curious about where Isabel stood.
“About last time… are you doing okay?”
“I wanted to visit you, honestly, but you beat me to it. I feel a bit awkward about that.”
Isabel picked up her teacup, blowing on the steam with a graceful air.
“You don’t have to be so formal with me.”
“I was a little impulsive last time. Jamie is married now—I really shouldn’t be bothering him anymore.” She paused, her tone open and calm. “I’ve already come to terms with it.”
She set her teacup down and shifted the conversation.
“By the way… did you see the news about Nelson Corporation’s crisis?”
