Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 585

Isabel nodded toward the floor below. “You know there’s a celebrity living right under you? Mia. She’s a friend of mine.”

“She’s been filming abroad lately, and sometimes she asks me to come over and feed her cat. That’s why I have her key card.”

Emmy nodded, totally getting it.

It wasn’t surprising. Applewood Estate was full of rich people and celebrities. Emmy could think of a few stars who lived in this building alone.

They walked over to the big windows.

Isabel took in the view of the river, her eyes lighting up. “This is amazing. I can’t see anything like this from my place.”

Emmy stayed quiet, her attention snagged by her phone buzzing with a new message from James.

She glanced down, and a smile crept onto her face before she even realized.

Isabel looked over, saw how focused Emmy was, and wandered off to look around.

James: Off work now. What do you want to eat?

Emmy didn’t even hesitate: I want candied hawthorn and roasted chestnuts.

Those two snacks had been everywhere online lately, and she’d been craving them for days.

Meanwhile, Isabel’s eyes drifted around the living room before settling on the master bedroom. She glanced back at Emmy, who was still glued to her phone, a strange, cold look flickering in her eyes.

Without a word, Isabel walked straight to the master bedroom, pushed the door open, and slipped inside.

She moved with purpose, heading straight to the vanity. From her pocket, she pulled out a tiny listening device and stuck it carefully under the lowest corner, hidden from view.

When she was done, she walked out like nothing had happened and closed the door behind her.

The whole thing took maybe ten seconds.

By the time Emmy finished texting James, she looked up and realized Isabel was gone.

She frowned, glanced around, then finally saw her out on the balcony, checking out a pot of rare black orchids.

Emmy walked over. “My husband’s about to be home. Want to stay for dinner with us?”

He had the candied hawthorn and roasted chestnuts she’d wanted, and in his other hand, a bouquet of red roses.

Emmy practically floated over to him, her eyes glued to the snacks.

James switched his shoes at the door, but instead of handing her the food, he put the snacks and flowers on the entryway table.

Then, in a flash, he scooped her up. Emmy found herself lifted off the floor, her legs instinctively wrapping around his lean waist.

“Whoa!” she gasped, arms flung around his neck.

James still had the chill of the outside air on him, but when he kissed her, his lips were burning hot. He kissed her like he’d been missing her all day.

Emmy’s heart hammered in her chest. His kiss made her knees weak, and all she could do was cling to him, letting herself melt into his arms.

Just then, Ivy walked out of the kitchen with a plate of freshly cut fruit. She froze at the sight, her cheeks turning bright red. She quickly covered her eyes and scurried back into the kitchen, mumbling to herself.

“I didn’t see anything, I didn’t see anything at all…”
