Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 603

The young monk beside her stepped in front of her, palms pressed together. “Amen, miss. The lot has already fallen. There’s no going back now.”

“If two lots fell together, it must be fate. Please bring both to Father Alistair for guidance.”

Emmy was at a loss for words.

Since when did fortune-telling come with a buy one, get one free deal?

She held the two sticks—one lucky, one unlucky—and stood up, resigned. There was no point arguing. Behind her, James and Andrew quickly finished drawing their own fortunes. By some miracle, both of them got the very best one. They grinned at each other and followed after her, slips in hand.

On the other side of the room, Teresa was already sitting across from Father Alistair, handing over her stick with a respectful smile.

He took it, gave it a quick glance, and then looked up. His voice was calm but carried a certain gravity.

“You have great kindness in your heart and blessings all around you. What you seek is already within. Trust yourself. Let your heart lead the way, and you’ll find light at the end of the tunnel.”

Teresa nodded earnestly, thanking him with genuine gratitude. She pulled out her phone, searching for a payment code, but there was only an old donation box sitting nearby. Not missing a beat, she signaled to Marian, who brought over her purse. Teresa took out a thick stack of crisp cash and stuffed it all into the box without a second thought.

The pile of money was so generous that the people waiting in line couldn’t help but stare and whisper.

“Oh my god, who is she? She’s loaded!”

“So generous… I wish I had her kind of money.”

While everyone was murmuring, it was Emmy’s turn.

She was just about to hand over both sticks when someone suddenly shoved past her from behind, slapping her own slip onto the table.

“Father, read mine first!”

Emmy’s eyebrows shot up. She glared at Mandy, who had just cut in front of her. “Ever heard of waiting your turn?” Her voice was cool and sharp.

Mandy shot her a look, completely unapologetic. “I’m in a hurry. You don’t look rushed, so let me go first.”

Emmy almost laughed. The logic was ridiculous.

Teresa frowned, clearly annoyed by Mandy’s lack of manners, but since Father Alistair had already picked up Mandy’s slip, she said nothing.

Emmy could only step back. As she did, she bumped into someone—James. He caught her gently, his arm sliding around her waist, holding her close. The silent support made her relax, just a little.

They listened as Father Alistair studied Mandy’s fortune and began to speak.

“My child, rushing only leads to trouble.”

He took the stick, glanced at it, but didn’t say anything right away. His gaze drifted past the slip to Emmy’s clenched fist.

“Amen. Miss, do you have another lot in your hand?”

Emmy froze in shock.

How did he know?

Under Father Alistair’s steady, peaceful gaze, she felt like her little secret was completely exposed. Next to her, James glanced at her tightly closed fist, curiosity flickering in his dark eyes.

With no other choice, Emmy opened her hand and handed over the unlucky stick as well.

Father Alistair placed both slips side by side on the table, staring at them for a long moment.

Time seemed to slow down, the air growing tense and heavy.

Finally, he looked up, his eyes tired but serious, fixed on Emmy.

“Several months ago, we met once before.”
