Will stared at the document, his gaze steady and calm.
“My parents were both narcotics officers. They died on the job when I was two.”
“After that, the squad took me in and raised me. I met James when I was fifteen, and I’ve stuck with him ever since.”
Abriella’s eyes went wide. She couldn’t believe it.
She’d never known how hard Will’s past was.
An orphan at two…
Her heart clenched, aching for him. Tears burned in her eyes.
She closed the document but didn’t hand it back, just slipped it into her bag without a word.
Will opened his mouth, about to ask what she was doing with his paperwork.
He never got the chance. The next second, Abriella launched herself at him.
Ignoring the pain from her wounds, she rose on her toes, hooked her arms around his neck, and kissed him. Hard.
Will’s eyes widened in shock.
This was only the second time Abriella had kissed him.
His body reacted before his mind caught up. His hands instinctively moved to her waist, holding her lightly, careful not to press on her injuries.
But her kiss was nothing like the first time. It was hungry, desperate, stealing his breath away. This time, she knew exactly what she was doing.
It was clear one kiss wouldn’t be enough for her.
Her fingers slid down from his neck, traced the line of his throat, then rested on his chest, feeling his heart pounding wildly through his shirt.
Even with the thin layer of fabric, she could feel how fast it was racing, like it wanted to break free.
Her hand wandered, getting bolder with every touch.
Everywhere she touched felt like sparks catching fire.
Will’s breathing turned ragged, his chest heaving.
A strange, tight energy curled hot and sharp in his stomach, growing stronger by the second.
Just as Abriella’s hand drifted lower, Will snapped out of the haze. Suddenly, he caught her hand, stopping her.
He was breathing hard, his voice low and rough, barely holding himself together.
“What are you doing?”
Abriella’s cheeks flushed deep red, so hot it felt like she could burst into flames.
Wasn’t it obvious?
Even in the dim light, Abriella could see his blush, spreading from his neck all the way to his chest.
She burst out laughing, then leaned closer and said, “A few injuries like these won’t stop us from having a little fun.”
“I’m not shy. Why are you?”
Will felt like he was going to lose it.
The woman he loved was on top of him, kissing him, whispering things that made his mind go blank.
He was about to lose control completely.
Still, he gripped her hand, holding on to the last bit of self-restraint.
“We can wait until you’re healed. There’s no hurry.”
Abriella bent down, her lips brushing his ear, her breath warm and teasing.
“I’m not waiting.”
“I want you now.”
“Seeing you every day with that body of yours… If I wasn’t all banged up, I would have had my way with you a long time ago.”
Will was speechless.
