Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 746

In a flash, James’s instincts took over.

He jerked to the side. The bullet shot past, grazing his shoulder blade and leaving behind a burning sting and a thin line of blood.

Almost at the same moment, he charged forward.

Dean barely had time to raise his gun for another shot before James clamped down on his wrist with a grip like steel.

A sharp crack cut through the morning stillness, making Dean’s teeth clench in pain. The gun slipped from his hand.

It never even hit the ground. James caught it easily with his free hand.

Suddenly, the fight had flipped. Now it was Dean who found himself staring down the cold barrel of a gun pressed hard against his temple.

The whole thing happened in less than two seconds.

Dean’s moves looked laughable compared to someone like James, who had seen real training and real fights.

James’s voice was low and cold, every word slicing through the air. “If you come near here again, I might not shoot you, but I won’t leave you standing.”

He pulled the gun away and, in front of Dean’s shocked stare, his fingers moved quickly and surely. In just a few seconds, he had the silver pistol taken apart, all its tiny pieces falling into a loose pile on the ground. He kept the bullets in his palm.

Dean finally managed to break away, cradling his injured wrist and spitting bloody saliva onto the pavement.

“You’re insane! Is violence all you know?” he spat, but his body was already giving up. He staggered back, yanked open his car door, and peeled away, desperate to get away.

James stood on the side of the road, watching the Maybach vanish at the end of the street. His face was so dark it looked like a storm was coming.

He got back in his own car and tossed the bullets into the console without a second thought.

The sky was getting light.

In the courtyard, Ollie had just finished in the bathroom when the loud noise startled him awake.

Still rubbing sleep from his eyes, he ran to the main gate. He stood on tiptoe, pulling open the heavy door just enough to peer outside.

He caught a glimpse of James getting into his car.

“James!”

Ollie’s eyes lit up. He spun around and shot off toward Emmy’s room.

He banged on the door hard.

Disappointment and something like regret pressed down on her.

But really, this was what she’d asked for. She was the one who told him to stay away.

She didn’t say a word, just turned back to her room.

Ollie wasn’t ready to give up. He ran outside, determined to find James if he was hiding somewhere.

He didn’t see anyone, but on the side road, he spotted a pile of shiny silver pieces scattered on the ground.

They looked like parts of a toy that hadn’t been put together yet. Ollie grinned, picked them up one by one, and stuffed them in his pocket like treasure.

Emmy sat on her bed, wide awake now. She reached for her phone.

A message from Abriella, sent just before dawn, flashed on the screen and made her freeze.

[Mandy jumped off a building. She’s dead.]

Emmy immediately called her back.
