Dumped Omega? Now Their Alpha King Begs at My Feet novel Chapter 34

Kai's POV

Later that day, I was in a meeting with my top Gammas in the war room. We were discussing the border dispute I had brought up at the Silver Crown meeting.

They presented their strategic options on the large, holographic screen that dominated the center of the room. They were competent, solid plans, full of detailed maps and troop movement schedules. They were the same kinds of plans we had used for years.

But I found their solutions lacking. They were too traditional, too predictable, too slow.

"We will increase patrols along the southern sector and set up a series of observation posts," my lead Gamma, Kael, reported, pointing to the map. "We will issue a formal warning to the rogue clans. If they violate the border again, we will engage."

I compared their careful, bureaucratic approach to Valerie's simple, ruthless answer. "Reinforce the border. Set lethal traps. Make an example."

My team's plans for "staggered patrols" and "formal warnings" suddenly seemed weak and insufficient. Pathetic, even.

"This is reactive," I snapped at them, my voice sharper than I intended. The Gammas all flinched, surprised by my tone. "Not strategic. You're managing a problem. You are not eliminating a threat. Why wait for them to violate the border again?"

"I want proactive measures," I growled, feeling a surge of impatience. "I want them to fear the very idea of crossing into our lands."

I ended the meeting early, a rare occurrence, leaving my Gammas looking confused and uneasy. I was restless, agitated, my patience worn thin.
