Dumped Omega? Now Their Alpha King Begs at My Feet novel Chapter 42

Kai's POV

I did exactly what she said. I cleared the room, leaving only the three of us and my dying grandfather. The nurses practically ran out, their faces pale with fear.

Dr. Albright was a nervous wreck. He kept pacing back and forth near the door, wringing his hands.

"This is highly irregular, Alpha," he muttered, more to himself than to me. "Completely against every protocol. What is she even planning to do?"

"Shut up, Albright," I growled, my patience gone. "You're here to watch. So watch."

He flinched and fell silent, his eyes wide with a mix of fear and morbid curiosity.

Valerie paid no attention to us. She walked over to my grandfather's bed, her movements calm and deliberate. The chaos of the last hour, the alarms, my own panic—none of it seemed to touch her. She was an island of pure, unshakable focus.

She stood beside him for a moment, just looking down. Then she took one deep, slow breath.

I felt a strange shift in the air, a weird pressure that made the hairs on my arms stand up.

Then she lifted her hands. She placed them gently on my grandfather's chest, right over his heart.

I braced myself for the silver light I'd seen her use before. I thought I knew what to expect.

A brilliant, blindingly pure golden light exploded from her hands. It wasn't a soft glow. It was a flood of raw power, the color of the sun, and it filled every corner of the room.
