Dumped Omega? Now Their Alpha King Begs at My Feet novel Chapter 56

Valerie's POV

The day of the "consultation" arrived. I dressed carefully. Not in a gown.

I chose a simple, elegant dark dress. It was comfortable and allowed for movement. It was a statement. I was coming as a professional, not as a date.

Elias drove me. We left the Silver Crown compound and headed toward the mountains, toward Crimson Fang territory. The roads became steeper, winding through ancient forests of pine and fir.

We passed through two unmarked, high-security checkpoints. The guards were Kai's elite, their black uniforms blending into the shadows. They didn't stop us. They just watched us pass, their eyes following the car until we were out of sight.

Finally, we turned onto a long, private road. It was carved directly into the side of the mountain, a feat of engineering that must have cost a fortune.

The view was insane. The sun was beginning to set, painting the sky in fiery shades of orange and red. We were so high up, we were driving through the clouds.

The car came to a stop in front of a simple, modern facade of dark stone and black glass. It was built seamlessly into the rock face. There was no grand entrance.

A man in a simple, dark suit was waiting. He opened my door.

"Lady Valerie," he said with a respectful bow. "Alpha Kai is waiting for you."

Elias stayed with the car. I followed the man inside.

We walked down a long, narrow corridor. The walls were made of the same dark, polished stone as the outside. It felt like I was walking into the heart of the mountain itself.

I had no idea what to expect. A meeting room? A private office?

The corridor suddenly opened up, and I stopped dead. My breath caught in my throat.

It wasn't a room. It was a space made entirely of glass.

The walls were glass. The ceiling was glass. Even the floor beneath my feet was a thick, transparent panel that looked straight down the sheer cliff face for thousands of feet.
