Even in Darkness She Chose to Rise (Tatiana and Jasper) novel Chapter 155

**Even the Night Couldn’t Silence Her Light**

**Chapter 155: The Threat**

Gordon’s heart was shattered into a million pieces. “Let’s just go home. We have no intention of dealing with him any longer!” he declared, his voice heavy with resignation.

Jasper hurriedly made his way to the hospital, his mind racing with worry. As he entered the building, he caught sight of the doctor exiting the ward. The physician’s expression was stern, the disappointment evident in his tone. “Sir, you must exercise more caution in the future. A pregnant woman’s body is fragile and cannot withstand undue stress. As her husband and the father of the child, it is your duty to protect her.”

Jasper remained silent, the weight of the doctor’s words settling heavily on him. He stepped into the hospital room, and his heart sank at the sight of Bianca lying on the bed, her complexion a ghostly shade of pale. But as soon as she spotted him, her eyes sparkled with a flicker of joy.

“Jasper, you’re here!” she exclaimed, her voice a mixture of relief and guilt. “I’m so sorry for causing you trouble. I just care so deeply about this child; it terrified me.”

He advanced a few steps closer, his demeanor icy and unyielding. “I will arrange for caregivers to look after you. You must not engage in any more risky activities. If you truly do not wish to keep this child, you have the option to terminate the pregnancy now.”

The color drained from Bianca’s face, her shock palpable. Before she could muster a response, Marilyn’s voice cut through the tension like a knife. “Terminate what? That is your child, a precious human life!”

Marilyn’s disapproval was unmistakable, her tone laced with reproach.

Since the moment she had learned of Bianca’s pregnancy, her attitude had shifted dramatically, transforming from indifference to fierce protectiveness.

“Where have you been for the past few days? I haven’t seen you at all,” she pressed, her brow furrowed with concern.

“At the office,” Jasper replied curtly, his focus elsewhere.

Marilyn’s expression softened, if only slightly. “Work is undoubtedly important, but you must also prioritize your family. You are a married man now, and your wife is expecting. You need to devote more time to her.”

Jasper’s response was dismissive, “I’ll have people monitor her.”

Marilyn’s disappointment was palpable. “How can hired help compare to you? Bianca needs you here, not just in body but in spirit.”

Bianca, sensing the rising tension, attempted to soothe the situation. “Mom, really, I’m okay. Jasper’s work is crucial. I promise I’ll take care of myself.”

Marilyn opened her mouth, ready to argue further, but the shadow lurking in her son’s eyes silenced her. Instead, she sighed and said, “You stay with Bianca. I’ll go prepare some fruit.”

Once the room was empty, Jasper pulled a chair up to the bedside, his expression devoid of the excitement typically associated with an expectant father.

Bianca, puzzled by his demeanor, ventured cautiously, “Jasper, do you hope for a boy or a girl?”

“It doesn’t matter,” he replied, his voice flat.

To him, this child felt less like a blessing and more like an obligation he had to fulfill.

What preoccupied his thoughts more was that fateful day at the villa. There was a blank space in his memory that eluded him, no matter how hard he tried to grasp it.

He had reviewed the surveillance footage later, which showed only him and Bianca alone in the room for an hour.

According to Bianca, he had fallen asleep on the sofa.

But something about that explanation felt insufficient.

“Tell me about that day again,” he insisted, his gaze piercing.

Bianca’s heart sank at his probing. Why couldn’t he let this go?

“Jasper, I’ve explained it to you countless times. You were genuinely asleep,” she replied, her voice trembling slightly.

He had been hypnotized during his slumber, a psychological suggestion implanted to make him believe the child growing within her was his.
