**TITLE: Even the Night Couldn’t Silence Her Light**

**Chapter 156: A Calculated Escape**

The driver, however, remained resolute, his voice devoid of warmth as he stated, “Miss, Mr. Jasper has given strict instructions for us to head straight back.”

Tatiana’s frustration bubbled to the surface. “I’m hungry. I want to eat. Stop the car right here!”

Her tone was final.

“Miss, I can’t do that,” he replied, his voice tinged with apprehension.

“I said, stop the car!” she insisted, her voice rising with urgency.

“Miss…”

In an impulsive moment, she swung her body toward the open window, nearly sending the driver into a panic. His foot slammed down on the brakes, the car screeching to a halt.

“Open the door!” she demanded, her eyes fierce with determination.

Fearing she might resort to more drastic measures, the driver hastily unlocked the doors and immediately sent a frantic message to Jasper.

With a swift motion, Tatiana flung the door open, stepping out into the world outside with purpose.

The vehicles trailing behind them halted abruptly, and several bodyguards, bewildered, tumbled out in confusion, unsure of how to handle the situation.

None of them dared to physically restrain her, knowing how fiercely she would resist. Instead, they scrambled to contact their boss with urgency.

When Jasper received the alarming news, his expression darkened, a storm brewing behind his eyes. “Stay on her! If you lose her, there will be consequences!”

With a heavy heart, he canceled his upcoming appointments, his mind set on finding Tatiana.

Meanwhile, Tatiana, seemingly driven by a genuine hunger, spotted a restaurant and walked in with an air of defiance, claiming a table as if she owned the place.

The bodyguards, still trailing her, exhaled in relief and hurried inside after her.

“Miss, what would you like to order?” one of them asked, trying to maintain some semblance of control over the situation.

She glanced at the menu, her fingers skimming over the options before casually ordering several of the house specialties, her demeanor calm yet assertive.

“Of course, please wait a moment,” the server replied, eager to please her.

Tatiana then pulled a small thermos from her bag and handed it over. “Could you please get me some hot water?”

“Certainly. One moment,” the server said, taking the thermos with a nod.

She added, “Three parts hot water and seven parts cool water.”

The server blinked in confusion but nodded, “Okay, I understand.”

Tatiana settled back into her seat, her heart racing with the thrill of her escape.

The food arrived swiftly, and she dug in, savoring each bite as if it were a small victory.

Halfway through her meal, she excused herself and headed towards the restroom.

The bodyguards, who had positioned themselves discreetly around her, jumped to their feet, unable to follow her too closely. They waited anxiously outside the restroom door.

Minutes ticked by. Five minutes passed, and she still hadn’t emerged. Anxiety began to creep into their minds.

Ten minutes slipped away.

One of the bodyguards, his nerves fraying, called over a staff member to check on her.

The employee, pushing a cleaning cart, entered the restroom and returned, looking perplexed. “There’s no one in there.”

The bodyguards’ hearts plummeted. They rushed inside, desperation clawing at them.

Sure enough, the restroom was empty, save for an open window.

“She’s gone! After her!”
