Even in Darkness She Chose to Rise (Tatiana and Jasper) novel Chapter 183

**TITLE: Even the Night Couldn’t Silence Her Light**

**Chapter 183 Knows What?**

Tatiana found herself in a situation where tears seemed to elude her, a cruel irony given the emotional turmoil she was engulfed in.

To coax out the tears that refused to flow, she resorted to pinching her own skin, digging her nails in with enough force to elicit pain. It was a desperate measure, but it was her only option to convince Jasper that she was indeed “seven.” The last few days had been an excruciating ordeal, each moment stretching endlessly as she grappled with her reality.

Yes, she remembered everything.

The day she had wandered into the park was etched in her mind, a vivid tapestry of confusion and fear. She had indeed lost her way, but what she had kept hidden from Jasper was the collision with another person that had sent her crashing into the steps. Though there was no blood, the impact had shaken the fog from her mind, clearing the haze that had clouded her thoughts.

Every detail rushed back to her: the moment she had saved Jasper, the cruel shove from Bianca that had sent her tumbling into the river, and the bitter theft of her identity as his savior. It was all there, a relentless tide of memories crashing over her.

In that instant, the desire to flee surged within her, a primal instinct rooted deep in her psyche like a gnarled tree. She had nearly bolted, but the voice of reason held her in place. There was no room for failure; one misstep could seal her fate. Jasper was not a man who would forgive easily.

She had to endure, to play her part.

Hiding in the hollow of a tree, she had woven together grasshoppers and found clover, biding her time. When she finally heard his footsteps approaching, she had pinched her thigh with enough force to draw tears, forcing herself to weep.

And Jasper had believed her.

Yet, despite the façade, her heart felt like ice.

The park was sprawling, vast enough that traversing it could take two full days, yet Jasper had located her in just three short hours. She had been without a phone, without any means of tracking. How on earth had he found her?

The answer lay within her—an unsettling realization.

She had never dreamed that Jasper would stoop so low as to implant a tracker within her. Thank goodness she hadn’t been foolish enough to attempt an escape from the park.

From that moment on, she had been acting, slipping into her role with increasing ease. It was astonishing how, after a while, pretending became second nature.

“Don’t cry. Will you dare go near her again?” he had asked, his tone heavy with warning.

Tatiana shook her head vigorously. “I won’t,” she replied, her voice barely above a whisper. Internally, she scoffed at the irony; he was the very one who had cautioned her to steer clear of Bianca in the first place.

“Good,” he affirmed, his expression stern.

“Jasper, when can I leave the hospital?” she inquired, a hint of desperation creeping into her voice.

“What’s wrong?” he asked, concern etching his features.

“I want to go home. I’m scared. I don’t like hospitals,” she admitted, her heart racing.

Jasper contemplated her previous stays in the hospital. It was understandable for her to feel fear. He tried to soothe her. “You can leave soon. Don’t worry, I’ll be right here with you.”

“Okay.” She let out a small yawn, the exhaustion creeping in.

He noticed the telltale signs. “Tired?” he asked, a teasing lilt in his voice.

“Mmm, not tired!” she protested, though her eyelids betrayed her.
