**Even the Night Couldn’t Silence Her Light**
**Chapter 185: Misguided Intentions**
**18 Pearls**
Jasper’s parents exchanged a glance, and in that fleeting moment, they both recognized the truth reflected in their son’s eyes. A chill ran through them, an unsettling realization that their boy had slipped into a realm of madness they could scarcely comprehend.
Yet, they refrained from voicing their fears. After all, he was their flesh and blood. If blame were to be cast, it would surely fall upon that troublesome Tatiana.
She had wreaked havoc during her life, haunting their dreams even after her supposed death, and now, upon her return, she was nothing short of a relentless tormentor.
Jasper, keenly aware of their disapproval, felt a surge of protectiveness. His voice, low and menacing, cut through the tension in the air. “You had better not do anything unnecessary in front of her. Otherwise, it might be time for you two to retire.”
His parents stiffened, disbelief washing over them like a cold wave.
“You… you… I am your father!” Barry’s voice trembled, a mixture of anger and desperation.
“Show them out,” Jasper commanded, his tone leaving no room for argument.
Even Gordon, who had always been a figure of authority, found himself barred from entry. What value did a father hold if he had never truly fulfilled his responsibilities?
Once outside, Barry’s fury erupted. “This is outrageous! He’s completely blinded by that woman! Everything he does is pure madness!”
Marilyn stood silently, her features contorted with worry. They had always struggled to manage their son’s whims, but this was a new level of absurdity they could no longer ignore. Their only recourse was to confront Tatiana directly.
But how could they reason with someone whose mind resembled that of a seven-year-old child?
They found themselves at a frustrating impasse.
Meanwhile, at the Lowell household, Xavier returned home with a bag of toys for Tatiana.
Her eyes lit up with pure delight as she sat cross-legged on the rug, her fingers eagerly exploring the new gadgets. She glanced up at him, a radiant smile spreading across her face. “Thank you!”
Xavier felt a warmth envelop his heart. “I’m really glad you like them.”
Memories flooded back to him—of days long past when they would play together, their bond untainted by the complexities of adulthood. They had shared laughter and secrets, until the revelation of her true identity shattered the illusion. The girl he had called his sister for over a decade was not his sister at all, and the weight of that truth had shifted his affections.
As time passed, Tatiana’s jealousy toward Bianca had led her down a dark path, and Xavier had instinctively sided with Bianca, feeling the sting of betrayal from the one he had once cherished.
Now, reflecting on those events, a pang of guilt twisted in his stomach. The words he longed to express felt trapped, lodged in his throat. But Bianca’s situation was urgent; he knew he had to speak.
“Tatiana,” he began, his voice steady but laced with hesitation.
“Hm?” she responded, her attention fully on him.
Xavier pressed his lips together, his hands clenching into fists at his sides. “Tatiana, I need to talk to you about something important.”
Tatiana clutched her doll tightly, her big eyes blinking innocently as she awaited his words.
“Do you know what a husband and wife are?” he asked, trying to gauge her understanding.
“I know! It’s like Mom and Dad!” she exclaimed, her face brightening with the simplicity of her logic.
“Exactly. But Jasper has a wife, too.”
