**TITLE: Even the Night Couldn’t Silence Her Light 217**
**CONTENT: Chapter 217 Road Chase**
“Do you drive? Where are the keys?”
He trembled, his finger shaking as it pointed towards the briefcase resting in the corner.
Tatiana, however, did not budge to retrieve them. Instead, her voice rang out, firm and commanding, calling to the two thugs loitering outside.
The two men, one tall and lean while the other was short and stocky, stepped into the room, their expressions shifting from confusion to shock. “What the hell! Are you really letting a woman get the upper hand on you?” the shorter one jeered, incredulous.
Tavin felt a surge of frustration bubbling within him. How could he have underestimated this seemingly fragile woman? She was far from the weakling he had assumed.
With a steely resolve, Tatiana intensified her grip on Tavin. His voice rose in desperation, “Just give her the keys! Now!”
Reluctantly, the taller thug fished the keys out of his pocket and tossed them over with a huff.
Tatiana nudged the keys closer with her foot, her eyes narrowing as she noticed the shorter man stealthily maneuvering behind her. Without hesitation, she kicked Tavin towards him, a calculated move, and launched herself out of the window with the agility of a cat.
The shorter man, caught off guard, rushed to the window and peered down. He watched, wide-eyed, as Tatiana landed gracefully, her body moving fluidly as she sprinted towards the car parked in the clearing.
“After her! She’s seen us! We can’t let her escape!” he shouted, urgency lacing his voice.
The landing jolted her, a sharp pain radiating from her old ankle injury. For a brief moment, her vision blurred, darkness creeping in at the edges, but she pressed on, refusing to yield. Gritting her teeth against the pain, she dashed towards the vehicle.
“Pull the door, get in, lock it, start the engine!” she mentally chanted, her heart racing.
Suddenly, the taller thug darted in front of the car, determined to block her escape.
Tatiana’s gaze hardened, her resolve crystallizing. She slammed her foot down on the gas pedal.
He never anticipated that she would actually try to run him over. As the car barreled towards him, instinct kicked in, and he leaped aside, narrowly avoiding the impact.
The car sped off, leaving a cloud of dust and gravel in its wake. The taller man cursed loudly, his frustration palpable.
“Get in!” he barked, urgency seeping into his tone.
The shorter man quickly pulled up in another vehicle, and they jumped in, ready to give chase.
Back in the room, Tavin was still seething, his fingers gripping his neck as he anxiously rifled through the contract. As long as it was signed, her escape didn’t matter. It had to be signed…
His heart dropped.
In the signature line, two flamboyant characters had been scrawled: Idiot.
Before he could process the implications, a group of men burst into the room, kicking the door down with a force that echoed through the space. They slammed him to the ground, wrenching his arms behind his back, dislocating both shoulders in one swift motion.
Agony shot through him, and he screamed, helpless and immobilized.
“Who are you! Let me go! Ah! My arms!” he cried out, panic rising in his chest.
Footsteps approached, and a pair of gleaming, handmade leather shoes came into view, stepping deliberately towards him.
Tavin followed the shoes upward, his gaze meeting a pair of ice-cold black eyes that sent a chill racing down his spine.
“Who… who are you?” he stammered, fear creeping into his voice.
