Tatiana, dragging the suitcase with her other, less severely injured hand, walked toward a young girl, calling out a name: “Jenny!”

The driver watched from his spot for a moment. After confirming that Tatiana and the other person were friends, and seeing the friend help her with the suitcase, he finally turned the car around and left, relieved.

Little did he know, as soon as the car was gone, Tatiana immediately said, “Thank you. I’ll take it… from here. I’m leaving.”

“But your hands are injured. Let me help you. Where are you going?”

The girl had a familiar face; it was none other than the university student who had lent her a phone and helped her before.

Tatiana had only dared to risk the act because she recognized her.

Thankfully, the driver was fooled.

“No need. It’s too much… trouble for you. I can… do it myself.”

“Oh, it’s no problem! By the way, the jewelry you asked me to pawn last time–I paid my tuition, and there’s some money left over. I’ve been meaning to find you to give it back. I’m so glad I ran into you.”

As she spoke, the girl took out her phone. “I’ll transfer it to you!”

Tatiana shook her head. “I don’t have… a phone. You don’t need… to pay me back.”

“No phone?”

Who doesn’t have a phone these days?

But looking at the other woman’s simple clothes and her apparent disconnect from society, it almost seemed plausible.

“Yes, I don’t. So, don’t worry about paying it back. Can I… trouble you to… buy me a… ticket?”

Although the girl was confused, she still bought her a ticket for a bus departing in twenty

minutes.

“Tatiana.”

“Wow, your name is beautiful! Well, see you around!”

She waved, watched Lilian leave, and then found a seat for herself to wait for departure.

There was a large clock in the waiting hall. Fifteen minutes until departure.

There was enough time.

As long as she could leave this place.

The heart that had been hanging in suspense finally relaxed halfway.

At this moment, in a private VIP room at the hospital.

“She? Who?” Marilyn quickly realized. “Are you asking about Tatiana? She went home first. Do you want to see her?”

He slowly sat up. The doctor beside him tried to stop him but was brushed aside.

His body still ached, but he could move, albeit with difficulty.

“Jasper, don’t force yourself to get up. If you want to see Tatiana, I’ll have the driver bring her here.”

For some reason, Jasper felt a sense of unease.

“Okay, I’ll call for her right now.”

Although she didn’t understand why her son’s first act upon waking was to find Tatiana, Marilyn did as he asked. After all, Jasper had just returned from the brink of death.

Marilyn called the driver to bring Tatiana back.

But the driver said Tatiana had seen a friend midway, got out of the car, and went back with her friend.

Marilyn frowned. “Didn’t I tell you to take her home safely?”

“Tatiana was very insistent, and the other person really was her friend, so I let her get out.”

The voice from the phone reached Jasper’s ears. His gaze darkened, and his voice was hoarse: “She has no friends. Find her and bring her back! Immediately!”

Due to the strong emotional fluctuation, he let out a few muffled coughs.

Marilyn instantly grew nervous and quickly said, “Maybe it really was a friend. She should be home by now. I’ll have the driver go look. He’ll find her soon. Don’t worry.”

But, she couldn’t be found.

The driver went to the Steele family and the Lowell family but couldn’t find any sign of Tatiana. He also checked along the route and found nothing.

Jasper immediately ordered all available hands to search for her.

A living person had vanished as if into thin air.
