The passengers‘ complaints were useless; they could only obediently wait for the inspection.

For some reason, Tatiana’s heart suddenly pounded with unease.

Was it such a coincidence that there had to be a fire inspection today?

Her gaze shifted to the window, and her pupils shrank.

She saw a group of people walking over hurriedly not far

away.

She recognized one of them. That was Jasper’s personal bodyguard!

He found out. He’s come to find her!

She abruptly stood up and walked to the front. “Driver, please, open the door! I need… to go to the… toilet!”

The driver, thinking the inspection would still take some time, opened the door. “Just five minutes. Come back quickly, or we’ll leave without you.”

“Okay.”

She had no intention of coming back.

Dragging the suitcase, she went around the other way.

She walked very quickly, but the suitcase was full of money, making it difficult to push. Coupled with her injured hands, just touching it sent a piercing pain.

She ignored the pain and walked toward the station exit.

Before she even got out, she saw more bodyguards standing at the entrance, seemingly staring at the arriving and departing passengers.

Her heart trembled violently, forcing her to turn and go back.

What could she do?

Watching those men about to find her, she was so anxious she was on the verge of tears.

If she couldn’t escape this time, she would never have another chance! Jasper would not let her go!

She was so anxious she shed tears, like a trapped animal, unable to find a way out.

Suddenly, she looked at the garbage truck parked to one side.

Her gaze gradually firmed.

“Still haven’t found her?” Jasper’s voice was terrifyingly cold.

The subordinate tensed up and reported: “We did find Tatiana on the surveillance footage. She entered the station, but we don’t know which bus ticket she bought. We are searching bus by bus.”

“I just want results.”

“Tatiana… has vanished.”

His expression was frighteningly dark.

“Useless! You can’t even find one person!”

All the subordinates bowed their heads, not daring to retort.

He pressed his brow, his tone annoyed. “Send more people. If you can’t find her, you don’t need to come back.”

The buses at the entire station were delayed by a full hour before departing.

Within that hour, they had practically turned the entire station upside down, digging three feet deep, but still couldn’t find any trace of Tatiana.

It was as if she had vanished into thin air.

Jasper was furious over this and expanded the search area. The matter even alarmed Marilyn.

“Barry, what do you think is going on with Jasper? He just woke up, and he’s already this desperate to find Tatiana?”

Barry was reading a book. Without looking up, he said, “Jasper will handle his own affairs. You should meddle less.”

Marilyn was a bit annoyed. “What do you mean by that? I’m not allowed to ask?”

“Didn’t you look down on Tatiana before? Why are you so concerned now?”

“For the sake of her saving Jasper, I can show her some courtesy. Besides, no matter how bad Tatiana is, she’s still better than that Bianca, who was dug out of some remote ditch.”

Marilyn came from a scholarly family and received a strict upbringing. Back then, she had outshone all the other socialites, which was how she was successfully chosen by Gordon as a daughter–in–law.

Therefore, she detested “little white flowers” who only knew how to act weak and pitiful. She couldn’t understand why her son showed such particular favoritism toward Bianca.

“This matter isn’t for you or me to manage. Dad will control it. Also, we absolutely cannot leak the news of Jasper’s injury. He’s about to have surgery.”

Marilyn agreed, but seeing her husband’s indifference, she felt somewhat disappointed.
