Chapter 73 An Unexpected Encounter
“Let her go. I invited Tatiana to the concert.”
Chandler arrived just in time, stepping protectively in front of Tatiana.
Jasper released her, stuffing his hands in his pockets, his gaze darkening as he looked at them. “You came together?”
“Yes.”
A cold smile touched Jasper’s lips. “Chandler, have you forgotten my warning from back then?”
Chandler’s face tightened, his jaw clenching. “Jasper, I’m no longer bound by the Xiao family. Your threats don’t work on me anymore. Besides, you and Tatiana are finished.”
“Whether we’re finished isn’t your call. Tatiana, come here.”
His tone was imperious, like a master commanding a servant, treating her like an insignificant ant he could control at will. He was used to summoning her and dismissing her on a whim. Just like now.
Chandler also turned to look at Tatiana, bracing himself to watch the performance alone tonight.
But Tatiana gently tugged on Chandler’s sleeve and whispered, “The performance is about to start. Let’s go.”
Chandler’s expression visibly brightened. “Okay. Let’s go.”
They left together, leaving Jasper standing alone, watching their retreating backs, his face like ice.
Back in their seats, Chandler asked with concern, “Are you alright?”
“I’m fine. Sorry for the trouble.”
“Don’t mention it. It was nothing.”
Tatiana turned to look at Chandler. Recalling Jasper’s words, she asked slowly, “What happened back then? What did Jasper do?”
For a moment, Chandler looked uncomfortable. “It was nothing.” His thoughts drifted. His sudden departure to study abroad back then had been because of the Jackson family. But he didn’t want Tatiana to know.
“Tatiana, do you want to go abroad?”
Tatiana paused. “Abroad?”
“Yes. Staying in Dalliston isn’t good for you. Think about it. I can arrange everything. You don’t have to worry.”
She looked down, conflicted, then her expression settled. She wouldn’t have the chance to go abroad. “I’ll think about it.”
Seeing she hadn’t refused, Chandler’s smile deepened. “Good. Just let me know when you’ve decided.”
They fell silent as the performance began.
Maestro Bell’s solo recital was an auditory feast. Everyone was immersed in the beautiful music.
Except Jasper.
His gaze wasn’t on the stage, but on the audience below.
Chandler and Tatiana’s seats were directly under his box, clearly visible. He thought of her refusal earlier, and irritation surged within him. She had never rejected him like that before.
Jasper’s sharp gaze fell on Chandler. Just a few encounters, and because of Chandler, she dared to defy his command. Hmph.
Immersed in the music, Tatiana suddenly shivered. A wave of unease washed over her, but it was quickly suppressed by the melody.
The performance was a resounding success, met with thunderous applause. Tatiana stood clapping enthusiastically, her heart full.
Seeing her reaction, Chandler had an idea. “Tatiana, would you like to meet Maestro Bell? Maybe get an autograph?” ·
Her eyes widened in surprise. “Is that possible?”
“My friend works backstage. He can let us in. We might get to see him.”
She couldn’t resist the temptation and nodded eagerly.
up,
After the concert, Chandler indeed led Tatiana backstage. His friend was waiting and let them through. “Maestro Bell will only be here for about half an hour. Be quick, don’t take too long. Just get an autograph and come out. Don’t disturb him.”

“Okay, thanks.”
“No problem.” Chandler’s friend winked, a knowing look on his face. Chandler didn’t deny the implied teasing. He was determined to win Tatiana over.
They walked through the backstage area to a VIP room. “Maestro Bell is inside.”
The door was unlocked. After knocking, they entered.
