Everest's Guardian Hubby Watched Me Freeze My Ghost Knows Where He'll Burn novel Chapter 60

Chapter 5

“We’re finished,” I said firmly.

“Julian!” His voice cracked with disbelief.

“I, Aurora Hale, don’t want you anymore.” I fixed my gaze on him, each word carefully chosen and heavy with finality.

I turned to walk away, but his hand shot out, gripping my wrist tightly. His face had gone pale, drained of color, panic etched in every line.

“Aurora!” he pleaded.

“Let me explain!” His voice trembled, desperation bleeding through.

His hand shook so violently I could feel the tremor beneath my skin. He looked like a child caught in the act, scrambling to shift the blame onto Lilac.

“I never meant for this to happen, Aurora. She came onto me,” he stammered.

“She got me drunk on that business trip, then crawled into my bed. She threatened that if I didn’t go along with it, she’d tell you everything—and I’d lose you forever.” His eyes glistened with tears, turning red with emotion. “Aurora—I can’t lose you.”

“You know I love you, Aurora!” he begged.

“Aurora, I love you!” he repeated, voice breaking.

I had imagined so many scenarios in my head.

Maybe Julian had developed feelings for Lilac. Maybe he was drawn to her tomboy charm. Maybe they started off hating each other, and one day something shifted. Maybe they kept it secret because they didn’t want to hurt me.

I even pictured confronting them, only for Julian to defend her, telling me I was overreacting.

But this? This was something else entirely.

The man I had loved for years was now reduced to a spineless coward the moment everything fell apart.

I glanced at Lilac, whose smug expression had drained away, replaced by a ghostly pallor. A bitter laugh escaped me.

“Guess your taste isn’t as good as you thought,” I sneered.

Suddenly, the tears that had soaked my pillow last night were gone. I had cried until there was nothing left to shed. Now, the whole situation felt absurd, almost like a cruel joke. I looked back at Julian—pathetic, like a wounded animal—and yanked my wrist free from his grasp.

I stepped back.

“Julian.”

With a swift motion, I slipped off my engagement ring and flung it directly at his face.
