Two days later, in the office of the Scott Group, the successful verification of the final crucial data signaled the full completion of the project our team was tasked with.
In fact, we wrapped it up a day and a half ahead of schedule.
“We did it!” Lily exclaimed excitedly. The rest of the team collapsed into their seats, their faces showing tired but elated smiles.
“Great! Finally finished!”
“The workload was crazy, but with Natalie at the helm, we knew we were in good shape!”
Hearing my teammates’ remarks, I let out a relieved smile. All those long days of hard work had finally paid off. I passed around the energy supplements and snacks I’d prepared.
“Take a break first. I’ll go report the results to Samuel. We’ll have a proper celebration later.” Without hesitation, I grabbed the final project data report and headed straight for Samuel’s office.
When Samuel saw that I’d not only completed the project but also exceeded expectations by finishing early, a brief look of surprise flashed across his face. But he quickly regained his usual, somewhat playful demeanor and gave a light round of applause.
“Natalie, you’re really something. You sorted out this huge mess in such a short time,” he said, then added with a sly undertone, “I heard your engagement party with Mr. Sanchez was quite a shindig. He must be… pretty happy with you, right?”
It was obvious what he meant. He was implying that the project’s success might be thanks to Leonardo’s influence rather than my own skills. He was trying to undermine my achievements and make it tough for me to establish myself in Moon-Shadowed Pack.
I looked him straight in the eye and cut through his false praise. “Samuel, I fixed this problem with my own abilities and the team’s hard work. It’s a bummer to get no thanks and instead be doubted. Why don’t you call Mr. Sanchez and ask what he thinks about this project? See if he’s investing in the project or in me?”
My words made his face twitch. Of course, he wouldn’t dare to call Leonardo.
He forced a laugh to smooth things over. “This is an internal matter. No need to involve Mr. Sanchez. You’re being overly sensitive. The project is done excellently. On behalf of the pack, I

thank you.” As he spoke, he showed me his phone. “The bet agreement is valid. Once the process is done, you’ll officially get the corresponding permissions in the company within the pack.”
I wasn’t interested in his fake friendliness. I gave him a cold look. “Mr. Scott, I hope our future cooperation goes well.”
Leaving his office, I knew this was just the beginning. Samuel and the forces behind him, like Penelope, wouldn’t make it easy for me to secure my position in the Scott family and inherit the Moon-Shadowed Pack. But I wasn’t scared. I wasn’t that meek, half-blooded Beta who could be pushed around anymore. I’d take back what was mine with my own hands.
With the project completed, I booked a fancy restaurant downtown to treat the team. Just as I was about to go in, I got a call from Fiona. Her voice sounded weak, which made my heart skip a beat.
“Natalie, are you busy?” she asked.
“Not at all. Just got off work. What’s up?” I replied right away.
“I was home alone today and took a tumble…”
Before she could finish, my heart tightened. “Is it serious? Are you okay?”
Fiona tried to calm me down, saying it was just a minor leg injury and that the doctor and the servants were there. But she was lying there, unable to move, and wanted to talk to me, afraid of bothering me.
“I’ll come right over to keep you company.” I decided without a second thought. Fiona had shown me the warmth of an elder I’d never felt before. When she needed me, I couldn’t just
walk away.
I explained the situation to the team, and they understood. The celebration could wait.
It was half past ten at night when I made my way to the Sanchez Estate. The place was wrapped in a deep silence, but beneath it, there lingered an unmistakable, powerful, and orderly vibe that spoke of a top-notch pack’s territory. A polite servant guided me straight to Fiona’s bedroom.
Inside, the room exuded a warm and inviting charm. I plopped down beside the bed, lying on my stomach, and we started chatting. Fiona began to share some tales from Leonardo’s childhood.
Leonardo had a tough start. His mom passed away when he was little, and his dad was always up to his neck in work. So, Leonardo basically grew up without proper family care. Taking pity
