My unyielding attitude and clear-cut logic plunged Benjamin into silence. He was well aware that what I said held water, and the contract in my hand was an irresistible temptation.
Landon, seething with humiliation, finally let his anger get the better of him. “Natalie, have I indulged you too much all these years? You’re really gonna push things this far for a bit of gain and mess up the family vibe?”
I sprang to my feet, my voice calm but frigid. “I’ve always had the Thorn Pack’s interests at heart. Since you see me like this, I’m outta here.” I threw his emotional-manipulation game right back at him.
Benjamin finally broke the silence, his voice gruff as if wrenched from the depths of his throat. “Alright. I’ll scrounge up the last 10% like you said.”
“Mr. Benjamin Richardson, you’re a real sport. Well then, I won’t bug you anymore. Let’s talk more once all the share-transfer formalities are wrapped up,” I said, flashing a cold smile.
With a slight nod, I grabbed my bag and made my exit.
Landon’s POV:
I almost chased after her out of reflex, but Benjamin’s sharp rebuke stopped me in
my tracks.
“Are we really gonna let her walk all over us, Dad?” I fumed, feeling utterly humiliated. Mom was spot-on. Natalie was taking full advantage of our need for her and being a real pain.
Benjamin growled, a menacing glint in his eyes, “Not a chance. The shares aren’t officially transferred yet. We can call it off anytime. The 10% is just a temporary fix.”
I instantly caught on. The shares were bait to keep Natalie from bolting. It’d be perfect if she came back to work for the pack. If not, there was no way she’d be allowed to take the pack’s secrets and resources with her.
Benjamin added, “I’m gonna be away for a few days to catch up with some old buddies. Thorn Pack can manage without a half-breed Beta. But I expect you to sort out this family drama before I’m back.” He gave me a pointed look.
“Got it,” I replied, getting his drift. Even in semi-retirement, Benjamin’s influence in the werewolf circle far exceeded Natalie’s. For now, keeping Natalie in line was the smart move. Since she was more receptive to kindness and as stubborn as a bull, I’d have to play the

emotional card again. After all, winning back a woman who once loved me wholeheartedly was just a matter of time.
As night fell, I made a beeline for Natalie’s bedroom. Since her departure, the room remained immaculate, yet it felt desolate and empty without her vibrant presence. Not once had she returned.
As I stepped inside, a flood of memories came rushing back unbidden. In the early days of our marriage, the Richardson Group was grappling with several pivotal projects. Eager to support me, Natalie threw herself into the fray, going so far as to forgo our long-awaited honeymoon. Subsequently, she often burned the midnight oil negotiating with other packs. Out of consideration for my rest, she voluntarily moved to the side room.
I settled on the bed, my hand gliding across the silky sheets. Their luxurious softness was a mystery to me, but I knew from the servants that Natalie had personally selected every item in the house, right down to the smallest decoration in my own room.
Lifting my gaze, I could almost see her standing before me-smiling brightly, her eyes glowing softly. In those days, no matter what challenges we faced, she never showed a hint of vulnerability. With her by my side, I felt invincible.
“Mr. Richardson?” A servant’s voice jolted me out of my reverie. She looked startled to see me. Usually, Natalie’s bedroom remained dark, and the sudden illumination had led her to believe that Natalie had come home.
“How long has it been since Natalie last set foot in this house?” I rose to my feet and began to wander around the room, nonchalantly opening drawers and cabinets in search of any sign of her.
“Mr. Richardson, Mrs. Richardson moved out about a month ago,” she replied.
“A month?” I was taken aback. Had it really been that long? It felt like only yesterday we’d had a spat and she’d stormed off, sure to return soon.
“Do you have any
idea where she’s moved to?” I asked.
“Sorry, Mr. Richardson. Mrs. Richardson didn’t leave a word. She left in such a hurry that she didn’t even take half of her stuff.”
