Sebastian glanced first at Bella. Seeing her give a slight nod, he turned his gaze back to Lillian.
He grabbed her hand and started pulling her outside. “Lillian, let’s go out and talk.”
Lillian wrenched her hand away again. “Everyone here already knows. What’s the point of talking outside?”
Seeing her refusal, Sebastian said to Bella, “Take Noah upstairs.”
Bella, understanding perfectly, led Noah upstairs.
Sebastian no longer tried to hide it. He told her the truth directly. “Noah is sick. He needs a savior sibling. Lillian, we need to have another child to save him.”
Hearing those words, Lillian’s heart trembled.
Her son was distant from her, but he was still her flesh and blood.
Now, he needed a savior sibling to be saved, but her own body... how could she possibly get pregnant in her condition?
The pain was so intense that her body began to visibly shake.
Sabrina stepped forward, speaking as if she were an elder offering counsel.
“Lillian, are you alright? You’re trembling. Don’t let anger ruin your health, you two still need to have a baby.
“Noah was just being childish. He’s still young.
“Don’t get the wrong idea. The family didn’t pull strings to get you out of prison just to use you.
“You gave birth to him, and now that he’s sick, you’re the one who needs to save him.
“He’s your own son. No one can save him but you. You can’t just stand by and watch him die, can you?”
As soon as Sabrina finished, Martin Mercer, Lillian’s own father, stepped up and berated her coldly.
“Lillian, Noah is the most important heir to both the Mercer and Blake families. He is destined to inherit the Blake family fortune.
“I’ve indulged your willfulness in the past, but you cannot be stubborn about this. You must get pregnant with Sebastian’s child as soon as possible. We have to save Noah.”
Reeling from the double blow of her own illness and her son’s, Lillian was already drowning in sorrow.
Her heart felt like it had shattered into a million pieces.
She hadn’t even said a word, yet her closest family—her father and that woman—were already ganging up on her.
Sabrina’s words seemed like advice, but they were a thinly veiled attack, painting her as a selfish monster who wouldn’t even save her own son.
Even her father, who used to speak to her with such gentle affection and treated her like the apple of his eye, was now ordering her around with harsh urgency.
Lillian steadied herself, her fists clenched tightly within her long sleeves, her nails digging into her palms so hard she didn’t even feel the pain.
Now Brandon and Colin approached, looking as if they were about to lecture her too.
