If Caroline liked something, she would buy it, no holding back.

And she bought 50 portions at once, pretending it was just a lunch order for her company.

She went to several shops and food stalls, picking up all kinds of snacks.

Of course, some people asked if she was even old enough to buy so much, but she didn’t bother explaining. She just pulled out her phone, tapped to pay, and moved on.

The shop owners loved how quick and decisive she was. They happily packed up her food.

When she mentioned she would come every morning to get 50 breakfasts for two whole weeks, their eyes lit up with

excitement.

Her car was parked nearby. Each time she collected the food, she put it in the car first, then quietly moved it to her storage space.

Near her neighborhood, there was a shop selling big pies. The crust had a slight sweetness, thin on the outside but stuffed full inside. Caroline really loved them.

She figured she could finish three of those in one sitting, so she ordered 200 pies in all kinds of flavors every morning. This time, she placed an order for a whole month’s worth in one go!

It wasn’t just her. Raven loved those pies, too.

Caroline also decided she’d check out the night market that evening.

During the day, after sorting things out at home, she planned to buy a few dozen tall shelves, along with a pile of everyday stuff, such as detergent, towels, cups, kitchen tools, disposable containers, and more.

But the most important thing was food.

She had already ordered some online, but now with more money in hand, she went to the wholesale market directly and bought in huge amounts.

She rented a warehouse and asked the sellers to deliver everything there.

To others, it looked like she was just filling up the warehouse, but after everyone left, she quietly moved it all into her storage

space.

Seeing her storage space grow fuller and fuller, she couldn’t help smiling.

Caroline loved tropical fruits like jackfruit, soursop, sugar apples, and others.

But in the northern part where she lived, they were really expensive.

So one evening, while watching a livestream sale, she messaged the customer service directly. She said she wanted to order a whole batch of tropical fruit.

She ordered truckloads and told the seller to deliver them.

At first, the seller thought she was kidding.

But Caroline asked for their phone number and called them directly.

After an hour of talking and sending over a deposit, the deal was sel

About a week later, the seller’s truck rolled in

The delivery was unloaded near the warehouse as usual, Caroline paid the rest and waved the seller off. She then picked a sugar apple and took a bite it was sweet, creamy, and absolutely tasty

After two weeks of nonstop shopping, one morning, right after picking up breakfast and heading home with Raven, Caroline’s phone rang.

The call was from Zoe Maynard, a college classmate she never got along.

As soon as Caroline answered, Zoe started mocking her. She sneered about how Caroline always bragged back in college about her perfect boyfriend and how they’d be engaged soon. But in reality? That socalled perfect boyfriend was already cheating on her.

That’s when Caroline remembered that this had happened in her previous life, too.

She had never gotten along with Zoe. And back then, she had been so blind about Jonathan that she cursed Zoe out.

She later ran to Jonathan, whining about her jealous classmate.

Thinking about it now, she felt so foolish.

Zoe, want to meet up today?she asked.

Since it was summer break, everyone was free. Zoe was surprised that Caroline sounded so calm and wanted to meet up.

I’ll buy you your favorite cajun food. Don’t worry, I’m not here to fight. Sure, we didn’t get along back in college before, but if I remember right, your ex cheated on you too. So just think of it as helping me get back at a jerk together.

Maybe that last line convinced Zoe. She agreed to meet.

Caroline also asked how Zoe knew about Jonathan’s cheating. Zoe explained her family owned a hotel, and she was working at the front desk that morning when she saw Jonathan leaving with another woman.

She wasn’t completely sure it was him, since she had only seen pictures, but she wanted to tease Caroline, so she said it

anyway.

Last time, Caroline hadn’t asked her for details. She didn’t expect it to turn out to be so solid this time.

And she realized Zoe could actually be her secret weapon.

She had been thinking about how to break up with that scumbag Jonathan when Zoe showed up with the perfect chance.

Please, don’t tell anyone yet. I’m begging you,Caroline said.

Zoe stayed quiet for a while. Maybe she had never heard Caroline plead like that before. But in the end, she agreed.

During the day, Caroline met with the real estate agent to handle the house.

The agent moved super fast, maybe worried Caroline might back out.

The bank said it would take just over two weeks to release the loan.

It’s perfect, since she was almost out of money.

Her parents had left her a huge inheritance, but over the past few years, with school, living expenses, and her recent shopping, she had already spent about half of it.

She figured that in two more weeks, she would probably use up the rest, too.

The other half of her money was tied up in shares and funds. Caroline hadn’t touched those yet.

She had another plan. She could use those investments to trick the Lowlands a little.

As for the shares and funds she had already given Jonathan’s family, she probably couldn’t get all of it backmaybe just part

of it

But with the rest of her shares and funds still in her hands, she could sell or transfer them in Lowlands spend their money or lose our

And once she got the money from selling the house, she could buy even more supplies.

Her thought was simple: buy as much as possible.

Since it wasn’t time to meet Zoe yet, Caroline went to the nearby market. She ordered more than 80 shelves, each about 16 feet tall, 10 feet long, and over 3 feet wide.

The shelves came in different layouts, perfect for storing all kinds of goods.

She paid a deposit, and the shop owner told her to come pick them up in two weeks.

As she was leaving, she noticed something in the back of the owner’s place. They were large plastic water storage tanks.

Each one could hold 50 tons of water. They were usually used in factories to store liquid food before it got packaged.

Caroline quickly ordered a hundred of them. She figured that when the apocalypse came, water would be a precious

resource.

She would find a way to fill them up.

That way, she wouldn’t need to worry about water for laundry, washing Raven, or other daily things.

Using bottled water for chores would be a waste.

The tanks would also be ready in two weeks.

After running around all day, Caroline looked at the time. It was almost time to meet Zoe. She got in her car and drove to the shopping mall.

Zoe was from Sycamore. She was bold, full of energy, and loved Cajun food.

So they chose a Cajun restaurant in the mall to meet.

As soon as they sat down, Zoe rolled her eyes at Caroline, then pulled out some information she had dug up from the hotel’s internal system.

The record clearly showed that the person who had checked in was none other than Jonathan.

And the person who went with him? It was Caroline’s childhood friend and best friend, Reese.
