Goodbye My Arrogant Ex (Marguerite and Leonard) novel Chapter 158

The most pressing issue right now was the two of them. Their engagement was about to be announced, and if something leaked before that happened, could it be that someone was deliberately targeting them?

These were questions they had to consider carefully—they needed to get to the bottom of it.

Marguerite agreed with him, and after a brief conversation, everything was laid out on the table. There had never really been any deep misunderstanding between them—just moments when things felt a little off and tempers ran high.

After going through all of this, Leonard had learned his lesson. If anything like this ever happened again, he would tell Marguerite immediately, without hesitation.

With everything finally out in the open, the two of them hurried to leave. There was still so much to handle at the office, and Marguerite had been cooped up at home for days; her studio needed her attention.

Laura had been working hard, as always, doing her utmost to keep things afloat. But it wasn't fair to leave everything on her shoulders—some tasks simply required Marguerite's expertise, things Laura couldn’t quite manage on her own. Marguerite needed to get back as soon as possible.

When they got home, Marguerite followed Leonard inside. She must have been exhausted, because as soon as she arrived, she drifted off to sleep.

Leonard, meanwhile, was knee-deep in a mess of company affairs. Ever since that incident, things at work hadn’t quieted down—not for a moment. The stock prices had been all over the place these past few days.

To get things under control, Leonard had been burning the midnight oil, working late into each night to stabilize the company’s position.

Night fell.

She didn’t really have anything urgent to say, but her voice was fragile and sweet, almost childlike.

To Leonard, it was just another tantrum. She only wanted an excuse to call him.

It’s not that he couldn’t take her calls—if there was something important, they could talk during the day. But she always insisted on reaching out in the dead of night, and it grated on him.

“Winifred, try to get some rest. Put your phone down, stop worrying so much, and just relax, okay?”
