Goodbye My Arrogant Ex novel Chapter 17

Marguerite accepted the gift box and handed it to Matthew, her smile warm and composed. “This is for Ms. Howell. I hope she’ll like it.”

Matthew lifted the lid, eyebrows arching in surprise when he saw the earrings nestled inside—a pair of deep blue teardrop gems, shimmering softly in the light.

He glanced up, taken aback. “You’re Hogan’s sister?”

Marguerite nodded, her voice calm and gentle. “Yes, I’m Marguerite. If there’s nothing else, we’ll be leaving now.”

Her poise never wavered, not even after everything that had just happened. She remained unfazed, her elegance and self-control unmistakable.

Matthew let out a low whistle, a wry smile tugging at his lips. “Ms. Taylor, Hogan and I go way back. His sister is practically family to me. I’ve heard a little about what happened between you and Benjamin. Take it from me—he isn’t good enough for you.”

Marguerite hesitated only a fraction, then replied, steady and serene, “Thank you, Mr. Howell, but we’ve already broken up. I’ll soon be marrying whomever my family chooses. You and Ms. Howell are, of course, welcome to attend.”
