Goodbye My Arrogant Ex (Marguerite and Leonard) novel Chapter 184

“When do you think Leonard will be back? Don’t tell me he’s still with that woman.”

Grandma Murphy always knew when to draw the line. She understood her grandson’s thoughts better than anyone.

“Winifred’s just started her rehab sessions. It’s difficult for her, and I know recovery isn’t easy. It hurts—a lot. I can understand that.”

“I know you all came here because of me, but really, there’s no need to worry so much. What Leonard and I have together isn’t something anyone can just come between.”

Marguerite made her feelings perfectly clear, speaking calmly but with conviction.

Grandma Murphy nodded, genuinely approving of her words. She’d always liked Marguerite, but this just confirmed what she already believed: Marguerite was someone with real sense, someone smart and grounded.

“Marguerite is right. As long as you two care about each other, no one else can threaten your relationship. I believe that completely.”

“I know you haven’t known each other all that long, but your bond will only grow stronger. I hope you’ll keep making each other happy—for a long, long time.”

On the drive over, Grandma had secretly worried the recent events might cause tension between the couple. But seeing Marguerite’s attitude put her mind at ease. She felt more certain than ever that Marguerite was the right woman for Leonard—and a true blessing for the Murphy family.

Truth be told, Leonard dreaded facing Winifred more than anyone knew. He’d had enough, but he felt he had no choice. He wouldn’t have stuck with it otherwise, not every day, not this consistently.

“All right, Leonard,” Grandma said gently. “We know you’re doing the right thing, and we all respect your sense of responsibility. I’m sure you’ll keep the right boundaries with her. Don’t let it weigh on you too much.”

“We’re not just here to talk about this, you know. We wanted to see you both, and—well, the engagement party is nearly planned. We thought it’d be good to talk things over together.”

“You and Marguerite are both busy with work, so let us handle the details. Still, there are some things we’d like to discuss with you, just the same.”
