Goodbye My Arrogant Ex (Marguerite and Leonard) novel Chapter 320

The elderly Mrs. Murphy honestly couldn’t stand to listen any longer. Her son and daughter-in-law had always been so concerned about themselves, always scheming for their own benefit, yet here they were, making a scene over things that meant absolutely nothing.

Right now, she truly wished she could banish her son and daughter-in-law from her house forever. But no matter how much she wanted them gone, they were still family, and it wasn’t as if she could keep them out for good.

“Both of you, get out! Get out of my house, right now!” Mrs. Murphy was trembling with anger, her entire body shaking. Looking at the pair of them, she felt her blood pressure rise. She’d actually woken up in a good mood today—had even felt quite cheerful—until these two showed up and ruined everything.

“Mom, after everything they’ve done to you, how can we just stand by and do nothing? If we don’t speak up, who knows what will happen next? I’m not leaving today, no matter what. If anyone should go, it’s them,” her daughter-in-law insisted, arms folded, eyes blazing with indignation.

“Mom, you’re our mother. There’s no way we could just walk away and let you fend for yourself. Surgery at your age is a terrifying prospect. Thank goodness we came back in time—if they’d tricked you into the operating room, who knows what would’ve happened? Even if you made it off the table, they’d find some other way to get rid of you. Do you have any idea what those people are really after? Do you even know what they’re plotting behind your back?”

Their words were harsh, and their tone left no room for compromise.

“You go on, then. Don’t worry about me, I’m perfectly fine. I have my doctor looking after me,” Mrs. Murphy replied, her voice softening. She felt a pang of guilt. Marguerite had come alone this time, just to see her, and yet all she’d received in return were accusations and criticism.

As Marguerite was leaving, Edith suddenly caught up to her in the hallway.

“Marguerite, don’t think I don’t know what you’re after. You’re all just waiting for a piece of Mrs. Murphy’s estate, aren’t you? Well, let me tell you, her money is never going to end up in the hands of outsiders. So you can forget about it—stop wasting your time.”
