Goodbye My Arrogant Ex (Marguerite and Leonard) novel Chapter 322

"Alright, that's enough. Stop with all this pointless arguing. Now look at Mom—she's already in this state because of us. Can you please just hold your tongue for once? Next time you want to visit, you’re going to have to come alone, because I’m not coming with you. I can't stand seeing her so upset every time we’re here!"

The truth was, Aaron’s uncle rarely wanted to visit in the first place. It was always Edith who insisted, practically dragging him along each time.

"Everything I've done is for your own good. If you had any real capability, we wouldn't be in this mess. If your mother had trusted you enough to hand over the company, you wouldn't have ended up like this."

"You see the shape Mom is in now—if anything happens to her, the company will really end up in someone else’s hands. Can you honestly say you’re fine with that? This is your family’s business. Do you really want to see it given away to a stranger?"

"If you’d just taken over from the start, we wouldn’t be running back and forth like this, and I wouldn’t have to deal with all this drama with your mother. I’m doing all of this for you, for our family. If the day comes when your mother is gone, it’ll be too late for regrets—by then, we’ll have nothing left. Have you ever considered what that means for our son? Do you even care how he feels?"

Edith’s tone was sharp and unyielding, and her stance left no room for argument.

Lately, the tension between them had only gotten worse, with every argument circling back to family matters.

Was their family’s business really going to end up in the hands of an outsider? That man was nothing but a stranger, and it seemed like every thought Aaron had was working against him. He had no idea what to do, no clue how to fix things. Was there really no way for Mrs. Murphy to come around?

The more he dwelled on it, the more restless and irritable Aaron became; his mood darkened with each passing thought.

"Everything I’ve done is for you and for this family," Edith said, her voice rising. "Let me remind you—things are the way they are now because of you. This was always meant to be your home, your responsibility. If you’d just been willing to step up and take over the company, do you really think your mother wouldn’t have handed it to you? From the very beginning, you just never had the ambition."
