Goodbye My Arrogant Ex (Marguerite and Leonard) novel Chapter 98

The two of them argued back and forth, their voices rising, neither willing to back down.

Marguerite was starting to regret coming here. She’d thought visiting her grandmother was a good idea, but she hadn’t expected another round of family drama.

“That’s enough!” The matriarch’s voice cut through the commotion.

“Haven’t you caused enough chaos already? Is this house not turbulent enough for you? The company is mine to give, and I’ll decide who inherits it. None of you have the right to stop me.”

She paused, her voice trembling with anger. “I see it clearly now. You all think I’ve lived too long and want me gone sooner rather than later. Have you forgotten that Marguerite is our soon-to-be daughter-in-law? We haven’t even set the wedding date, and you’re already making a scene like this. Is this how a family behaves?”

She was furious and deeply disappointed. How had the family come to this? She never thought things would escalate so quickly between them.

The two women fell silent at once, glaring at each other but biting back their words.

The old woman turned to Marguerite. “Marguerite, go home with Leonard. After what’s happened today, I owe you an apology. I’m truly sorry.”

She sighed, her voice softening. “From now on, if I want to see you, I’ll come visit. There’s no need for you two to come back here.”

The matriarch had finally understood: wherever Marguerite was, Edith would show up and stir trouble. It had never once stopped.

Leonard met her gaze, cold and unyielding. “Edith, you started this. You know Grandma’s health isn’t good, and yet you still came here to cause trouble. Do you really think your behavior will change anything between us? Don’t flatter yourself.”

With that, Leonard took Marguerite’s hand and led her out the door, not looking back. As they left, Marguerite couldn’t help but feel a shadow settle over her—she never wanted to set foot in that house again.

“Leonard, stop right there!” Edith shouted after them. “Do you think you’re so special? Is this how you speak to your elders? You’ve never shown any respect for this family. Why should we trust you?”

“Our family built this company from the ground up, and it’s thriving—not because of your so-called talent, but because it was always destined to succeed. So don’t get too arrogant, Leonard. In the end, no one knows who’ll inherit the company. I refuse to believe you’re the only one who’s capable!”
