Goodbye Saintess (by Edelweiss W.S.) novel Chapter 39

Baron’s friends knew it was time to back off by the number of expletives he threw around.

The man who blocked his path, however, grinned and said, Hey, if you find him, don’t forget to split the reward with your loyal bros!

Please. If I find him, do you think I’ll still care about that Canien bitch? I’d already have a haremand I’d share some of the girls with you,Baron said, clapping the man on the shoulder.

He rushed to his car and barked at the driver, Get me to The Baron’s Hotel. Now. Fast.

Yes, sir!The driver hit the gas without hesitation.

Baron pulled out a faded, yellowed photo and studied the young man’s face, frowning. How the hell am I supposed to find you? This picture’s from ten years ago, and all I have is a last name starting with GR. In a city this hugeHow the hell can I do this?

He examined the features carefully, trying to imprint the image in his mind.

Twelve minutes later, Baron arrived at the hotel. He glanced up from the photo and out the window.

He couldn’t believe what he saw. Am I imagining things? Is that who I think it is? Damn! Yes! It’s him, isn’t it?

Er, Mr. Goldman?the driver asked, puzzled. He looked over at his employer.

But Baron had already swung open the door and rushed out like a man reunited with his true love.

The astonished driver muttered to himself, Wow. I didn’t know he swung both ways too. I really shouldn’t judge a book by its cover.

I had returned to the hotel entrance.

To my surprise, the receptionist from before stepped in front of me again. Sorry, sir, but you’re not allowed to go to your room yet.

What was wrong with her? She’d acted strange from the start.

Why not?

We discovered the elevator is broken during our patrol. It’s under repair now, so please wait in the lounge. I’ve even prepared afternoon tea for you,Amy said with a professionally polished smile.

That’s fine. It’s only six floors. I can take the stairs,I said.

Rhea was still suffering heartburn. I had to get to her quickly.

Amy blocked my way again. There’s a fire on the fifth floor. Another group of staff is trying to put it out.

A fire? Then you have to let me in! I’m a firefighter! I can help!I exclaimed, ready to rush.

Honestly, I was sure she was lying. What confused me was why she was going to such lengths to stop me from returning to our

room.

Amy cursed inwardly, Why does he have to be a firefighter of all professions?

No! You can’t!she shouted.

What’s going on? Did something happen to my companion?I demanded.

Chapter 39

I had no time to waste playing games with her.
