Goodbye Saintess (by Edelweiss W.S.) novel Chapter 40

Amy finally spoke the truth. Oh, Ms. Canien is fine. In fact, she will stay fine as long as you remain here. Why? Because she’s the heiress of the Canien familyfar above your league.

More importantly, she is engaged to the owner of this hotel, my superior. You are a nobody and should step away. I think you should leave now. He is on his way here, and despite appearances, we don’t want things to get ugly for you. Take this chance and go.

So that was the reason. No wonder she had brought a squad of security to patrol the corridor outside our room. They wanted to catch me if I was with her.

There was one problem: Rhea had told me she had broken up with her jerk boyfriend, and her family had forced her into some kind of engagement. She had never said she was engaged, though.

She was now alone in her room, drunk and sick. She was vulnerable in every sense. I could not leave her alone.

I narrowed my eyes and set my jaw. Rhea is drunk and has no idea she’s engaged to anyone. She never consented to see your employer, so why is he coming? You’re stopping me from tending to her when she needs help. If anything happens, do you know how liable you and this hotel will be?

Amy knew she was overstepping, but orders were orders. If you have questions or suggestions, tell our employer yourself. What you’re asking is beyond my pay grade, sir.

No, I don’t care. I’m going in. Move aside before I call the cops on you. I’ll tell them you kidnapped a guest and that your employer staged a premeditated sexual assault case. Let’s see how you handle that,I threatened.

I pushed past her and headed for the stairs.

Amy clenched her teeth and summoned security. A dozen men closed in around me.

Sir, you forced my hand, she said. I didn’t want this to get ugly, but you’re not offering me the same courtesy.

I scoffed. How is returning to the room I paid for turning things ugly?

Don’t even think about it, sir. She’s way out of your league!Amy shot back.

You have no authority here. You’re just a receptionist. And do you really think a dozen security guards can stop me?I shouted, shoving the gastric meds into my pocket and preparing to fight.

I would rather confront the hotel owner than leave a drunken Rhea alone to whoever she might fall victim to.

Why are you such a pain in the neck?Amy said with contempt. You asked for this! Get him! The boss will reward anyone who stops this madman!

The guards advanced aggressively. Then Baron burst out of the front door.

Seeing his security circling me, he snapped, What the hell are you doing? Stop this now!

His voice echoed through the hall. The guards froze and turned. He looked ready to explode.

Mr. Goldman! So glad to see you,Amy said with relief.

She stepped to his side and added, This is the man who carried Miss Canien to her room. I’ve been holding him here, but do you have a better plan?

I don’t care about that. What’s his last name?Baron asked, scanning me.

The more Baron looked at Sebastian’s face, the more he resembled the young man in the photo. He shivered. He was this close to offending someone far more revered than he ever could.
