Finally, Rhea asked cautiously, “You mean the part about the boyfriend roleplaying?”

“Yeah.” I knew I shouldn’t sound so cold and distant, but everything about this moment made me feel awkward.

“Duh! Of course I was serious! Yaaas! This is the second reason why today is the best day of my life!” she shrieked. “The first reason was when I secretly kissed you while you were asleep before I left.”

She really thought he would say no. She was this close to giving up, unaware that the best was still coming for her by the end of the day.

“Okay, so about the money. You-”

“Of course! If you think it’s not enough, I can add more! Honestly, if it’s you, I’d gladly pay whatever you want!” she said.

“No. I meant your money will be an investment for my startup. I’ll pay you back once I make a profit… with interest.” I sighed. “I shouldn’t need your money at all. But my wife… She suddenly came up with this scheme. I have to pay an exorbitant amount just to divorce her.”

I had agreed to play the boyfriend role, after all. Even if I hadn’t, I didn’t think I could say no to her.

“Okay! Come soon! I’ll send you my address!” Rhea hung up immediately to prepare for our outing.

A moment later, I received the address to the Canien estate.

I knew where that was. The rich and powerful of Astergrad lived there. Only the elite could call it home–even Hera’s Bishop family couldn’t hope to stay there.

I prepared myself and booked an Uber.

I had no idea the Canien family was in chaos. The Canien parents glared at Rhea as they threw their AirPuds in front of her.

“I wouldn’t have known you spent your allowance on fooling your own parents if I hadn’t bugged your phone! So this is your new game, Riri? Hiring a random stranger to lie to us? What is this, a power struggle?”

Rhea, freshly dressed, looked stunned. She staggered back and cried, “You were listening in? How could you?!”

“Don’t turn this on us, young lady!” James roared. “Instead of blaming us, look at yourself! What’s with this outfit at this hour? Are you going out to see that punk? Well, don’t even think about it! If you do, you’re no longer a Canien!”

Rhea paled. “I’m an adult, Dad! I have the right to choose who I love! The right to associate with whoever I want! How dare you invade my privacy by bugging my phone?!”

“How dare you talk back to me!” James thundered.
