Caspian was quiet for a moment before speaking.

“Honestly, I think Teagan’s great too.”

“But I just feel like it’s such a waste. I’m still so young–how could a man possibly only have one woman his whole life? Being able to see the end from the beginning is way too boring.”

“I need to go out and see the scenery… But it doesn’t interfere with anything–as long as I turn back, there’ll always be someone keeping the light on at home.”

The guy went quiet too.

After a long pause, he laughed and punched Caspian’s arm.

“Scumbag.”

I couldn’t listen anymore and quietly walked further away.

As the evening breeze blew, I couldn’t help sniffling, my eyes getting hot again.

I only hated that I’d been blind before, misjudging someone’s character.

My mood at today’s party was absolutely terrible.

Mrs. Blake was especially happy to see me, constantly pulling me aside at the dinner table to chat and ask after me.

“Teagan, when you get to New York the weather’s very dry. Tomorrow have Cas take you to stock up on moisturizing skincare.”

“No need, Mrs. Blake. New York has lots of malls, and online shopping is convenient too.”

She smiled in agreement, then said to my mom:

“I prepared bedding and sheet sets for Cas, and I got Teagan’s portion ready at the same time–for all four seasons.

“Especially since Northern winters are very cold, I picked really thick ones, and bought several sets of down coats too. You’re busy with work, so don’t worry about preparing anything else for Teagan.”

My mom felt awkward–these would be completely useless in Miami.

But not wanting to spoil her kindness, Mom could only politely express gratitude.

Juniper’s expression looked terrible.

But Mrs. Blake didn’t notice, continuing to instruct me and Caspian:

“When you get to New York, you two will be each other’s closest family. Cas, you must take good care of Teagan and stop making her angry, understand?”

Caspian glanced at me dismissively:

“Hmph, she’s got wings now–where does she need me to take care of her? She can fly just fine on her own.”

The atmosphere got a bit tense, but Juniper suddenly jumped into the conversation.

“Mrs. Blake, my school is in New York too. Don’t worry, I’ll take good care of Cas in the future.

“Besides, Teagan will be far away in Miami, so it’s not very convenient…”

“Miami?!”

They looked at me in unison and asked.

Juniper was startled, “Cas, didn’t you know? The honor roll is hanging up at school. Oh right, you haven’t been back to school.”

Everyone stared at me.

I nodded under the pressure.

Mom helped explain.

“Teagan suddenly changed her application at the last minute. She wanted to go to college in Miami. It’s also an excellent university and her preferred major.”

Caspian didn’t believe it. He grabbed my hand and confirmed again.

“Teagan, aren’t you going to the same university as me? I watched you fill out your application.”

He was gripping my hand so hard it hurt, and I couldn’t help getting angry too.

“Yes, I’m going to Miami. What business is it of yours?”

Caspian looked incredulous, then laughed.

“You’re joking with me, right? Someone who jumps straight onto me when she sees a spider–you dare go to Miami?”

I pulled out my phone, found the high–resolution photo of my acceptance letter, and showed it right in front of his face.

Caspian took my phone, enlarging and staring at it over and over several times, finally laughing angrily.

Amid everyone’s shocked exclamations, he yanked me out of the banquet hall.
